Job Description

San Diego Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization committed to building homes, communities, and hope in the San Diego region. Founded on the conviction that every individual deserves a simple, decent, and affordable home where they can live with dignity and safety, the organization actively engages diverse groups of people in meaningful work that transforms lives. Operating as a pivotal community builder, San Diego Habitat for Humanity connects volunteers, donors, partners, and homeowners to create sustainable housing solutions that strengthen neighborhoods and foster community development. Their mission is deeply rooted in social impact and community empowerment, offering opportunities for people to contribute in significant ways.

The Grants & Events Coordinator is a full-time, nonexempt position offering an hourly wage range of $24 to $27 depending on qualifications, designed for individuals passionate about working with purpose and contributing to impactful projects. This role plays a vital part in supporting the Development Team by facilitating grant application processes, managing grants and funding relationship communications, as well as orchestrating events that promote engagement and fundraising success. The coordinator will manage an annual grants calendar to ensure timely submission of grant applications and reports, track grant funding and compliance using CRM software such as Raiser’s Edge, and liaison effectively with corporate and community partners.

Beyond grants administration, this position involves significant responsibility in event planning and execution. The coordinator assists with logistical organization and implementation of key fundraising events such as Women Build, Veterans Build, Taste of Home, Legacy Luncheon, Home Dedications, Wall-Raisings, and various donor meet-and-greets. Coordinating invitations, managing RSVPs, and overseeing event setups and breakdowns are crucial to ensuring seamless event experiences that boost the organization’s visibility and donor relationships. Additionally, the role requires developing strong communications, coordinating volunteer bookings, managing in-kind donations, and generating acknowledgment letters for donors, which collectively enhance the overall stewardship program.

This position suits organized, detail-oriented professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment and desire a hybrid work model balancing remote, office, and field engagements. The coordinator will integrate cross-departmentally to maintain clear communication channels, maximize contributed income, and elevate San Diego Habitat for Humanity’s mission impact through efficient grant and event activities. Support from leadership committed to an inclusive workplace culture, along with a comprehensive benefits package, makes this an attractive career opportunity for someone eager to advance their nonprofit fundraising and community engagement skills while making a meaningful difference in affordable housing and community development.
