The Front Desk Cashier role at Grand Sierra Resort is a dynamic and integral position within the guest services team. This role primarily focuses on facilitating a smooth and welcoming experience for guests from the moment they arrive until their payment transactions are securely processed. The ideal candidate will be responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations and waitlists, responding to inquiries, processing payments including cash, credit cards, and room charges, and ensuring that all monetary transactions balance accurately. In addition to transactional duties, the cashier acts as a communication hub, coordinating between guests, management, culinary staff, and service teams to fulfill special requests and maintain operational flow.

The position demands a high level of professionalism in interfacing with guests and team members, handling complaints and concerns with tact and respect. It also requires multitasking skills and the ability to support team members by efficiently resetting tables and assisting with to-go orders. Adherence to guest service guidelines, organizational policies, and sanitation standards is critical to the role. This employment opportunity typically involves flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the resort's busy, 24/7 nature. Candidates must be at least 16 years old and possess basic mathematical, reading, and writing skills. Previous cashiering experience is preferred but not mandatory if candidates can demonstrate the requisite knowledge and skills through other means. Job Requirements

  • Minimum age of 16 years
  • previous cashiering experience preferred or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • ability to stand for long periods
  • must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10lbs
  • ability to use both hands repetitively
  • good vision including depth perception and color vision
  • ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • basic reading, math, and writing skills

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cashiering experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Greeting and seat guests by utilizing department greeting and steps of service
  • manage reservations including calling and confirming upcoming reservations
  • manage waitlist by providing accurate wait time estimates
  • address guest inquiries
  • receive payment from guests in the form of cash, credit cards, and room charges and comp slips
  • make changes as needed, verify validity of charges, record charges and ensure vouchers are properly executed to accurately balance all monetary transactions
  • make deposits/cash drops, complete appropriate cashier paperwork/reports, balance and secure bank
  • interact with team members and guests in a professional and polite manner including complaints and concerns are effectively handled
  • communicate special requests with management, service staff, and culinary team
  • assist the support team to turn tables faster by resetting them quickly and efficiently
  • take to-go orders and ensure the orders are packed with the required condiments
  • support and maintain Grand Sierra Resort guest service guidelines and other policies and procedures
  • help maintain safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations
  • any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position
