Job Description
Target is a leading retail corporation renowned for its commitment to delivering a joyful and seamless shopping experience to families everywhere. Founded with a vision to enrich everyday life, Target consistently champions a culture based on core values that prioritize customer satisfaction, innovation, and inclusivity. With stores across multiple regions, Target offers a diverse range of products, and its commitment to excellence is reflected in both its store environment and its attentive team members. As a reputable employer, Target offers competitive wages, inclusive hiring practices, and a dedication to fostering skill development and career progression for its workforce. The General Merchandise (GM) division within Target plays an essential role in ensuring that customers enjoy a well-organized, fully stocked, and attractively presented shopping environment. Working in the General Merchandise sector involves expertise in store processes and efficiency, with team members strategically enabling a consistent, positive customer experience by maintaining accurate pricing, inventory management, and promotional displays that regularly update to meet market demands. This role operates amidst a dynamic retail setting, focusing on inbound and outbound merchandise flow, replenishment, and the overall merchandising process across all GM areas in the store. Employees in this role routinely engage with guests, offering assistance, answering questions, and contributing to a welcoming store atmosphere reflective of Target's guest-first culture. By joining Target as a General Merchandise Expert, team members gain valuable retail experience that includes deepening their understanding of sales trends, inventory replenishment cycles, and process efficiencies that influence store profitability and operational excellence. They engage in varied duties such as stocking shelves, organizing backroom areas, placing signage, adjusting pricing, and possibly operating equipment to move large merchandise items or fixtures if certified. The role also supports modern retail services like digital order fulfillment, including picking, packing, and delivering pickup orders to guests, thus blending traditional retail skills with evolving e-commerce demands. In this capacity, team members are encouraged and trained to uphold safety standards, ethical practices, and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those concerning adult beverage sales where applicable. Target’s supportive environment emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, and creative problem solving, making it an ideal employer for individuals who thrive in fast-moving, physically demanding work settings. The company provides comprehensive training programs ensuring team members are well-equipped to succeed and grow. Work schedules are flexible to accommodate busy retail periods, including nights, weekends, weekends, and holidays, respecting the need for reliable attendance and punctuality. This employment opportunity pays an hourly rate starting at $18.25 USD, reflecting Target’s commitment to offering competitive compensation alongside career development opportunities.
