Job Description

The University of California, Davis (UC Davis) is a world-renowned public research university known for its commitment to excellence in education, research, and community engagement. UC Davis offers a vibrant and inclusive environment where individuals from diverse backgrounds can flourish and contribute to solving some of the most pressing global challenges. The institution is dedicated to fostering innovation, diversity, and collaboration across multiple disciplines, with a strong emphasis on supporting students, faculty, and staff through comprehensive resources and programs. The Office of Medical Education (OME) at UC Davis plays a critical role in supporting the teaching mission of the School of Medicine. By creating an engaging and supportive learning environment, OME helps develop competent, compassionate, and skilled physicians who are prepared to excel in their professional careers. The department offers a wide range of services to students and faculty, including instructional material support, financial aid, counseling, tutoring, and special programs that enhance both academic and professional growth. OME also supports several important School of Medicine and Health System committees that guide educational policy and student progression. The special programs sponsored by the office further enrich the academic mission and are instrumental in organizing events and presentations for other academic and administrative groups within the university.

The Events and Global Health Coordinator is a full-time position reporting directly to the manager of the Student Development Office and overseen by the Director of Outreach, Recruitment and Retention. This hybrid role—combining on-site and remote work—requires flexibility, with possible work beyond standard business hours to accommodate evenings and weekends. The coordinator’s primary responsibility is to support both Office of Medical Education administration-led and student-led events, as well as to coordinate global health programs tailored toward the professional development of medical students. This includes organizing various activities such as events, elective courses, and additional initiatives related to global health. Additionally, the coordinator provides support to multiple administrative and faculty directors who oversee the programs and activities. The role also includes managing various communications for these programs, such as website content updates, marketing materials, and email correspondence. The position demands strong organizational skills to handle scheduling, travel coordination, financial tracking, purchasing, records management, and a host of other logistical tasks.

The Events and Global Health Coordinator position at UC Davis offers an hourly wage ranging from $28.16 to $48.47 with grade 19 classification and includes a comprehensive benefits package. UC Davis promotes inclusiveness and cultural sensitivity, encouraging applicants from diverse backgrounds to apply and emphasizing the importance of equity in all facets of employment. Candidates for this role should expect to work with diverse student populations and faculty and must exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Experience in higher education, healthcare, nonprofit, international programs, or student services with substantial event management expertise is highly valued. This key role supports the global health mission and event coordination efforts critical to the School of Medicine’s continued success and vibrant academic community.
