The Global Food team at OpenAI is a dynamic and innovative group responsible for designing, operating, and scaling the company’s food program across multiple offices internationally. This team works closely with various internal departments such as Workplace, Finance, Real Estate & Workplace (REW), and technical teams along with external vendors. Their mission is to provide an exceptional hospitality-driven employee experience through top-quality food services while building scalable systems, operational infrastructure, and processes that support rapid company growth. The team also plays a crucial role in managing food program integrations during acquisitions to ensure seamless onboarding of new employees into OpenAI’s food service standards.
The Global Food Operations Specialist plays a vital role within this team by supporting the execution and continuous enhancement of the global food program. Based in San Francisco, CA, this specialist coordinates daily operations involving vendors and cross-functional office teams to maintain consistent service delivery across regions. Responsibilities include managing vendor performance, operational reporting, system upgrades, and developing scalable processes tailored for global expansion. The role requires a blend of strong organizational skills, a systems-oriented mindset, operational excellence, and a hospitality-first approach to enhance the employee food experience.
Additionally, the Global Food Operations Specialist leverages AI, automation, and operational technologies to optimize workflows and reporting, thereby improving program effectiveness. The position supports operational launches, vendor governance, risk management, and communication across multiple stakeholders. Candidates can expect to work on multi-site and international projects, requiring some domestic and international travel to support office openings and acquisition integrations. The job operates under a hybrid model requiring three days per week in the office, with relocation assistance provided for new hires.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of relevant operations or hospitality experience
- proficiency with data analysis and reporting tools
- strong collaboration and communication skills

Job Duties
- Support day-to-day operations of OpenAI’s global food program
- coordinate operational launches and transitions including cafès and new office openings
- track operational follow-ups, risks, escalations, and action items
- support vendor performance management through KPI tracking and reporting validation
- partner with Workplace Data & Technology teams to improve reporting and AI-enabled workflows
- maintain operational documentation, SOPs, trackers, and governance processes
- help gather employee feedback and support food program continuous improvement initiatives
