Job Description
Sea Mar Community Health Centers is a well-established Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) founded in 1978 with a strong commitment to serving diverse communities, particularly focusing on the Latino population in Washington State. As a community-based organization, Sea Mar provides comprehensive health, human, housing, educational, and cultural services with an emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility. The organization proudly delivers care and services to all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, sexual orientation, or ability to pay. With a vast network comprising over 90 medical, dental, and behavioral health clinics, Sea Mar is dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of the communities it serves while upholding a client-centered, culturally aware, and socially just ethos.
The role of Cook at Sea Mar Community Health Centers plays a vital part in supporting the organization's mission by assisting the Food Service Director in managing daily operations within the department. This position involves preparing meals for residents, catering special events, and overseeing food storage and safety practices per regulatory requirements. Working in a dynamic institutional food services setting, the cook ensures all meals are prepared according to menus and standardized recipes and contributes to maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen environment. The role requires attention to dietary needs, adherence to health and sanitation standards, and fostering a collaborative work environment where the cook acts as a resource to fellow employees. Emphasizing high standards of safety and sanitation, the cook will be integral to upholding Sea Mar's mission to provide dignified, respectful care through all aspects of service delivery.
Sea Mar requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and the flu, with exceptions only for approved medical or religious reasons, emphasizing health and safety for both clients and staff. This position offers an hourly wage of $21.30 and involves working primarily in a food service department with exposure to hot cooking surfaces, large equipment, and refrigeration areas. Physical demands include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moderate lifting up to 45 pounds throughout the shift. Sea Mar supports its employees by offering robust benefits for full-time staff working 30 hours or more, including medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, life insurance, long-term disability, employee assistance programs (EAP), paid time off starting at 24 days per year plus 10 paid holidays, and 401(k) retirement options. Working at Sea Mar is more than a job; it is a fulfilling career opportunity within a culturally rich and diverse community health organization that values professional growth and the well-being of its employees.
