This full-time position, based out of the Glen Mills, PA office and linked to Northeast Operations, seeks a skilled Geotechnical Technician/Inspector to join the Tetra Tech team. The role focuses on performing construction inspections and geotechnical testing on building construction projects. Candidates will evaluate contractors' adherence to project plans and specifications by conducting thorough field observations and compiling detailed reports. Responsibilities include soil density testing using nuclear density gauges, earthwork inspection, assessment and management of unsuitable soils, foundation examinations, subgrade reviews, concrete and masonry inspections, rebar and pre-slab verifications, structural steel bolt and weld inspections, cold-formed steel evaluations, and road construction inspections.

The position involves frequent travel to and from various job sites, requiring a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain strict safety standards while working primarily outdoors in diverse weather conditions throughout the year. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 40 pounds and perform activities such as standing, walking, climbing, balancing, and other movements essential to field inspections. Candidates are expected to have strong analytical skills, be able to interpret complex documents and technical instructions, and apply mathematical concepts to real-world construction and geotechnical challenges.
