The role of General Utility at Guest Services is fundamental to maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall operational efficiency of the food service and dining areas. This hourly position, offering compensation at $14.00 per hour, entails a variety of duties that are critical to the seamless functioning of kitchen and service environments. The General Utility professional is responsible for washing dishes, glasses, utensils, pots and pans, and other preparation or serving items using proper sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with health standards.
In addition to dishwashing, the General Utility contributes by performing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks such as clearing trash, replenishing condiments and supplies, mopping, sweeping, and organizing shelves. This role often requires loading and unloading inventory shipments and maintaining stock in storerooms. Furthermore, the General Utility is expected to maintain an awareness of safety and sanitation guidelines and promptly report any issues to management.
Physically, this role demands stamina, as it involves standing for the entire workday, frequent bending, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, working in wet and slippery conditions, and enduring temperature extremes in freezers, refrigerators, and grill areas. The ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Job Qualifications
- Partial high school education
- high school diploma/G.E.D. equivalent preferred
- strong sanitation habits
- strong customer service abilities

- ability to recognize when a problem has occurred and communicate it to management
- reading and writing work-related documents in English
- speech recognition and clarity, including the ability to understand the speech of customers and co-workers and the ability to speak clearly so that you can be understood by customers and co-workers in English
Job Duties
- Wash dishes, utensils, trays, and cooking supplies using proper sanitation procedures
- Pull trash from trash receptacles
- replace trash bags as needed
- clear trash from tables and floors/grounds
- Clean floor area of any spillage of water, detergent and/or food stuffs per safety and sanitation guidelines
- Fill condiments, utensils, and other supplies with stock as needed
- Loading and unloading of inventory from trucks
- stocking storeroom
- Maintain the kitchen, serving, and dining areas in clean and orderly condition at all times by sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, wiping counters and equipment and organizing shelves in order to maintain a sanitary work station and to meet mandated health compliance requirements
- Maintain awareness of safety issues, and report them immediately to your manager
