The General Services Aide position at Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library offers an exciting opportunity to play an integral role in maintaining the cleanliness and overall upkeep of this historic institution's facilities. This role is fundamental in delivering a safe, sanitary, and pleasant experience for both guests and staff by performing a variety of janitorial duties and miscellaneous support tasks. Responsibilities include general cleaning and maintenance, managing supply deliveries, and assisting with event setups and take-downs. The position provides a chance to work in a dynamic and culturally rich setting while contributing directly to the preservation and enhancement of Winterthur’s environment. This is a full-time position with a work schedule from Tuesday to Saturday amounting to 40 hours per week. Job Requirements
- minimum of two years janitorial experience with a high school diploma or ged or equivalent years of experience
- preferred experience in hospitality or cultural institution industries
- knowledge of housekeeping operational procedures
- knowledge of basic sanitation requirements and application of cleaning chemicals
- basic knowledge of hand tools
- basic knowledge of carpet cleaning procedures
- ability to assess situations and take initiative
- able to bend, stretch, reach and move at a fast pace
- able to lift 50 pounds
- able to climb up to nine flights of stairs
- able to walk and stand for extended periods of time for eight hours or more
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- maintain general indoor appearance of the building
- collect trash from offices, restrooms and lobbies
- vacuum and perform carpet cleaning services
- mop floors in restrooms, stairwells, and lobbies
- dust and wipe furniture and vents
- operate vacuum, shampooer, and buffer
- mix and use cleaning solutions safely and store them securely
- ensure disinfection and sanitization of employee work spaces and public areas
- perform duties as assigned in work orders such as setting up conference rooms for training
- responsible for event set up and take down such as setting up tables and small trash receptacles for events
