Job Description
The hiring organization is a hospitality establishment focused on providing quality dining experiences, likely operating a cafeteria or dining service within a larger institution such as a corporate campus, educational facility, or healthcare environment. This company prioritizes excellent customer service, cleanliness, and efficiency in meal service operations. Known for fostering a supportive and safe workplace, it emphasizes teamwork and attention to detail to ensure patrons enjoy their meals in a clean and welcoming environment.
This job opening is for an entry-level Dining Room and Servery Assistant, ideal for individuals new to the hospitality or food service industry. No previous experience is required, making it a great opportunity for those looking to begin a career in food service or hospitality. The position involves assisting with the set-up and tear-down of various meal service stations including salad bars, dessert stations, condiment areas, coffee, drinks, and waffle bars. The role also includes stocking beverages, utensils, cups, and bowls, and operating equipment like drink machines, waffle makers, and soft serve machines.
The Dining Room and Servery Assistant plays a crucial support role in meal service periods by preparing food stations, replenishing supplies, and ensuring compliance with portion control and sanitation standards. Additionally, the position requires cleaning and sanitizing server and kitchen prep areas, and preparing as well as clearing dining room tables before and after meal services. The role demands physical stamina as employees are frequently on their feet, lifting and moving items up to 40 pounds, and working in a dynamic kitchen environment with exposure to hot water, cleaning agents, refrigerators, and potentially slippery surfaces.
The company values competencies such as customer focus, effective communication, thoroughness, and time management as critical for success in this role. Reasonable accommodations are available to support individuals with disabilities in performing essential job functions. Overall, this position offers a meaningful entry point into food service with opportunities to develop skills in food preparation, customer service, and workplace safety, while contributing to the smooth operation of the dining facility.
