Job Requirements

  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • pass a pre-employment drug test and physical if applicable
  • pass criminal and driving record checks if applicable
  • comply with the State of Michigan policies prohibiting the use of AI software in the selection process
  • submit to all hiring background checks and screenings
  • be able to perform routine maintenance on office fleet vehicles
  • meet the educational and experience criteria relevant to the position level

Job Qualifications

  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school
  • no specific type or amount of experience required for General Office Assistant 5
  • one year of administrative support experience for General Office Assistant 6
  • two years of administrative support experience including one year equivalent to the intermediate level for General Office Assistant E7
  • valid driver's license

Job Duties

  • Receive and screen visitors
  • route telephone calls to appropriate office staff
  • provide directional assistance to visitors
  • handle politically sensitive phone calls
  • handle confidential material
  • open, distribute, and log the Director's mail in Customer Relations Management (CRM)
  • perform timekeeping duties
  • receive and distribute incoming mail
  • troubleshoot and maintain the section's multipurpose machines such as copy, printing, scanning, and faxing
  • schedule meetings and conference rooms
  • proofread correspondence
  • order office supplies
  • provide basic administrative support for Executive Assistants of the Department Executive Team (DET)
  • perform routine maintenance on office fleet vehicles
