The General Merchandise Team Leader role at Target is a dynamic position that involves leading the General Merchandise and Food Sales teams to deliver an excellent shopping experience for guests. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement
  • Educate team on operational procedures affecting inventory management, store profitability, and product availability
  • Assess reporting to identify gaps in general merchandise processes and develop plans to resolve issues
  • Be an expert of operations, accuracy, process, and efficiency
  • Assist and lead daily tasks such as receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing backroom, arranging merchandise, and setting up promotional signs
  • Lead inventory accuracy, merchandise set-up, maintenance, and pricing processes
  • Assign daily tasks to team members based on workload and guest traffic
  • Establish clear goals and hold team accountable
  • Lead pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work if applicable
  • Collaborate with all teams and leaders to ensure store readiness
  • Stay informed on trends and communicate Target resources
  • Evaluate candidates and develop a guest-centric team
  • Work flexible schedules including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Support guest services and maintain compliance culture
  • Demonstrate inclusivity and ethical conduct
  • Lead and enforce safety culture and secure store security
  • Support merchandise protection strategies
  • Create welcoming experiences by engaging guests
