Job Description
Novolex is a prominent manufacturer specializing in food, beverage, and specialty packaging products that serve a wide range of industries including foodservice, restaurant delivery and carryout, food processing, grocery and retail, as well as industrial sectors. With a vast catalog of 120 product categories, over 250 brands, and more than 39,000 SKUs, Novolex leverages manufacturing and sourcing expertise across diverse materials such as resin, paper, molded fiber, aluminum, and other substrates. The company is recognized for delivering both stock and customized packaging solutions that meet the varied needs of its extensive customer base.
Novolex operates with a clear commitment to sustainability, based on three essential pillars: products, operations, and its people. This triad embodies the foundation for its growth and the future direction of the business, reflected in company-wide sustainability initiatives geared towards reducing environmental impact while maintaining product safety and quality. This sustainability vision aligns with Novolex’s focus on responsible manufacturing practices and community involvement, which promotes an ethical and supportive workplace culture.
The Maintenance Mechanic role is a critical position within Novolex’s Tolleson, AZ facility and offers a starting pay rate of $27.49 per hour. This role centers on the mechanical and electrical service and repair of industrial equipment used in packaging operations. Reporting to the plant Maintenance Manager and sometimes taking direction from the Shift Supervisor or Manager when needed, the Maintenance Mechanic ensures that all equipment functions reliably and safely. The role requires a strong focus on food safety, including the appropriate use of food-safe and non-food-safe lubricants and participation in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety training.
The Maintenance Mechanic’s responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe work environment, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing machinery, and assisting with equipment installations and upgrades. This position requires the ability to use SAP systems for reporting and demands comprehensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations. The role is physically engaging, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects, sometimes in environments with heat, ink, and lubricants. The shift schedule is days from 7am to 7pm on a 2-2-3 rotation, emphasizing teamwork and adaptability.
Joining Novolex means becoming part of a company with a strong emphasis on employee well-being, community engagement, and continuous training and development. Novolex not only offers competitive benefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance but also a supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and provides opportunities for professional growth through programs such as tuition reimbursement and skill development courses. The company actively promotes equal employment opportunities and provides accommodations for applicants with disabilities, ensuring a fair and respectful workplace for all employees. This role presents a rewarding opportunity for skilled maintenance professionals to contribute to the success and sustainability goals of a leading packaging manufacturer.
