Job Description
Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is a leading pet specialty retailer dedicated to providing high-quality products, services, and expert advice to pet parents. Established over 60 years ago, Petco has become a trusted name in the pet care industry, proudly serving pets and their owners across more than 1,500 stores in the United States, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. With a workforce exceeding 29,000 employees, Petco fosters a culture centered on nurturing the pet-human bond, ensuring that every pet lives their best life through access to nutritious food, engaging toys, trusted supplies, and professional care. Beyond retail, Petco operates 250+ Vetco Total Care hospitals, preventive care clinics, and distribution centers, reflecting its commitment to comprehensive pet wellness. The company has a strong community presence, supporting local animal welfare groups and facilitating adoption events that have helped find homes for approximately 7 million animals since 1999, the year Petco Love was founded.
The General Manager role at Petco represents an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing Pet Care Center that embodies the Petco mission and core values of "Pet First," "Foster the Fun," and "Let's Go!" As the owner of your business, you will be accountable for managing people, performance, and processes to achieve operational excellence and deliver outstanding customer experiences. This full-time position located at 3265 East Broadway, Pearland, TX requires hands-on leadership with a focus on animal care, safety, team development, and driving business growth. By championing pet health and safety, creating a welcoming environment for pets and their parents, and building an inclusive and engaged team, you will influence both the community and the business positively. The role also demands strong financial acumen to manage labor, payroll, expenses, merchandising, and inventory while ensuring compliance with Petco's standards and safety protocols.
A General Manager at Petco leads by example on the sales floor, promoting a culture of integrity, transparency, and continuous learning. You will be responsible for attracting, hiring, training, coaching, and developing diverse talent, fostering a collaborative environment where employees feel empowered and valued. Your leadership will drive sales growth, profitability, and operational results through careful analysis and decisive action. Additionally, representing Petco in the community by leading local events, adoption initiatives, and partnerships enriches the impact and helps strengthen the brand's presence.
Success in this role is defined by maintaining a safe, healthy, and thriving environment for pets; developing a high-performing and engaged team; earning customer loyalty through exceptional service; and running a profitable Pet Care Center reflective of Petco's values. This role requires the ability to handle physical tasks like lifting animals and supplies, as well as frequent interaction on the sales floor with customers and colleagues. Petco offers a supportive and inclusive culture, growth through development programs, and the chance to shape the business every day. If you have a passion for pets and exceptional leadership skills, Petco is a place where you can make a meaningful difference while advancing your career.
