The role of a Theatre Manager at Regal Cinemas is a multifaceted leadership position crucial to the seamless operation of the theater. The Theatre Manager is responsible for upholding all Regal policies, overseeing staff activities, and ensuring that all aspects of theater operations run efficiently. This role includes managing human resources duties such as hiring, training, scheduling, supervising, counseling, and, when necessary, terminating staff in collaboration with Human Resources Business Partners. The manager ensures compliance with all cash management procedures and takes control of concession inventory, spoilage, and shortages. Additionally, the Theatre Manager supervises technical operations related to projection and audio-visual equipment, ensuring all hardware and software are properly maintained and operated, and that film handling meets company standards.

The Theatre Manager must be adept at cost control, including managing direct operating expenses, purchasing stock and supplies, and overseeing inventory and auditing processes. They coordinate facility maintenance and janitorial services to maintain Regal standards of cleanliness and safety, sometimes performing minor repairs or facilitating the services of qualified personnel for larger maintenance tasks. The role also requires vigilant monitoring of risk management protocols, focusing on team member and guest safety, loss prevention, emergency preparedness, and thorough accident reporting and investigation.

A vital aspect of the job involves fostering positive guest relations, handling marketing and promotions for feature films, scheduling movie showtimes, and ensuring the accurate accounting of all receipts, including multiple modes of payment such as cash, credit, coupons, gift cards, and checks. The Theatre Manager must also engage in continual professional development, including completing legally mandated state or local training for alcohol service where applicable, as well as internal training through Regal Academy.

Job Requirements

  • Two years of post-secondary education in Business
  • two years management or supervisory experience
  • Must be of legal age to sell and serve alcohol according to state or local laws where applicable

Job Qualifications

  • Two years of post-secondary education in Business and/or two years management or supervisory experience
  • Working knowledge of all systems within facility in Booth and Projection technology including maintenance, programming, TMS operation and all related projection skills
  • If the theatre sells alcohol and assigned duties will include selling/serving alcohol, must be of legal age to sell and serve alcohol according to state or local laws
  • Completion of Regal Responsible Beverage Server training
  • Possess good public speaking skills
  • Effectively communicate in both oral and written form
  • Perform calculations with speed and accuracy and identify and correct errors
  • Identify problems, gather relevant data, and implement solutions
  • Proven experience with PC platforms and knowledge of basic office programs
  • Interface effectively with customers, public, and co-workers
  • Directly supervises employees including interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, planning, appraising, rewarding, and disciplining
  • Able to perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 60 lbs, and other job-specific physical demands

Job Duties

  • Upholding and administering all Regal policies as outlined in Regal Policy Guide and Theatre Support Office directives
  • Ensure all cash management policies and procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Control concession inventory shortages and spoilage levels
  • Hiring, training, developing, supervising, counseling, scheduling, and after conferring with the Human Resources Business Partners terminating of any employee
  • Properly administering all applicable paperwork and upholding all company policies as they pertain to Human Resources
  • Ensure required alcohol certification and training are current where applicable
  • Supervising all staff positions as required including all projection and audio-visual equipment within the theatre, both hardware and software, as well as all applicable film handling and maintenance as required
  • Controlling costs, including all direct operating expenses
  • purchasing and ordering stock and any other supplies needed for daily operations, as well as the inventory and auditing processes involved in tracking those supplies
  • Supervising theatre maintenance (building and grounds, where applicable) including performing minor repairs and obtaining qualified personnel for larger maintenance concerns
  • Monitor janitorial staff to ensure facility is cleaned to Regal standards every day
  • Monitoring risk management as it pertains to the theatre, i.e., team member and guest safety, loss prevention, emergency situations, and the proper handling, reporting, and investigating of accidents
  • Responsible for guest relations
  • marketing and promotions of feature film engagements
  • scheduling of movie show times and the timely delivery of show times to all proper channels
  • and counting, depositing, and reconciling all receipts taken in during a business day
