Financial stewardship is a key element, with responsibilities spanning budgeting, forecasting, revenue enhancement, cost control, and profit and loss management.
Beyond internal operations, the General Manager acts as the primary liaison between the property and its surrounding community and industry, fostering strong relationships with local organizations, officials, and business partners to enhance visibility and reputation. Collaboration with ownership and senior leadership on strategic initiatives and long-term planning is vital, balancing ownership expectations with operational integrity. This role demands a leadership style that is both confident and personable—firm in expectations yet approachable and solutions-oriented—promoting a culture of inclusion, respect, creativity, enthusiasm, honesty, and accountability. The General Manager also champions the development and mentoring of a high-performing leadership team, supports recruitment and career growth, conducts performance reviews, and enforces company policies and compliance standards.
Colton House Hotel offers a competitive salary range of $120,000 to $135,000, depending on experience, along with an attractive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, 401K, HSA/FSA plans with employer contributions, and more. Employees also enjoy a cellphone allowance, daily pay options, paid time off and holiday pay, discounted lodging, dining, spa, golf, and retail services, and participate in a values-based, inclusive workplace culture known as #OMGLIFE. Opportunities for personal and professional growth abound through online learning platforms, committee and task force participation, and generous referral bonuses. The employer’s commitment to diversity and inclusion encourages candidates of varying backgrounds to apply, reflecting the company’s ethos of creating exceptional experiences for both guests and staff. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic general manager to lead a distinctive property in one of Austin’s most exciting neighborhoods while enjoying ample support and resources to excel in their career.
