Job Description
The General Manager/Operating Partner role is a pivotal leadership position within a fast-paced drive-in restaurant environment, accountable for overseeing all aspects of daily operations to ensure an exceptional experience for guests and efficient management of employees. This position holds the highest authority at the drive-in and reports directly to the Market Supervisor or Multi-Unit Supervisor, focusing on operational excellence and team leadership. The drive-in restaurant is a dynamic and customer-focused establishment, serving a variety of quick-service fare, and is known for delivering quality food and superior guest service in a fast, friendly setting.
As the General Manager/Operating Partner, you will play a vital role in recruiting, training, and leading assistant managers and staff while maintaining the highest standard of operational control, including cost management, inventory oversight, and compliance with both company policies and government regulations. The role is exempt, requiring a commitment of a minimum of 50 hours per week, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with irregular but essential shifts to guarantee the smooth running of the drive-in. This position offers a unique opportunity to spearhead business growth through local marketing initiatives and ensures that the drive-in maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both employees and guests. This multifaceted and high-responsibility role requires a strong background in restaurant management, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to efficiently handle administrative and operational duties.
The General Manager/Operating Partner will be deeply involved in driving employee performance, managing schedules, handling compensation within company guidelines, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and sanitation standards. You will also be tasked with managing vendor relationships, addressing guest and employee concerns promptly, and overseeing financial aspects such as labor and inventory costs to maximize profitability. Maintaining complete operational recordkeeping and preparing detailed reports is a crucial aspect of this role, along with developing and implementing strategic action plans informed by business metrics.
In addition to managerial responsibilities, the role occasionally demands hands-on participation, including performing station duties such as cooking, food preparation, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards. Physical tasks such as moving and stocking food products up to 50 pounds may be required, and the role demands adaptability to various working conditions, including standing for extended periods and exposure to varying temperatures.
This position is ideal for candidates who are passionate about the quick-service restaurant industry, possess strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and are committed to fostering a positive work environment where employees thrive and customers enjoy a memorable dining experience. The General Manager/Operating Partner will lead by example, demonstrating dedication, integrity, and a service-oriented mindset to uphold the drive-in's reputation for excellence.
