Located in Tacoma, WA, the Homewood Suites by Hilton brand under Tharaldson Hospitality is seeking a General Manager for an exciting new hotel opening in the Puyallup Tacoma area. As the General Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role overseeing the entire hotel operation to ensure efficiency and profitability. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with company and franchise standards, overseeing personnel administration, staff training, and performance management. The General Manager is also charged with budget management, cost control, and assisting in financial planning alongside the Area Director. Sales and marketing functions fall under your purview as well, including engaging with the community, making marketing calls, working with travel agents, and coordinating sales promotions to drive revenue growth.

Additionally, the General Manager ensures high standards of cleanliness and guest room inspections, manages guest satisfaction by addressing complaints promptly, and handles employee relations with fairness. Compliance with wage and salary guidelines based on annual surveys, proper management of bank deposits, payroll, paperwork, scheduling, and procurement of supplies are all critical duties. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One or more years of similar hotel management experience
  • Knowledge of hotel operations and customer service
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to manage budgets and financial planning
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and delegate effectively
  • Willingness to be on call 24/7
  • Commitment to maintaining company and franchise standards

Job Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred
  • One or more years of similar experience in select service or extended stay hotel properties
  • Experience with hotel brand standards preferred
  • Knowledge of inventories, scheduling and ordering
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Open availability

Job Duties

  • Ensure compliance with company and franchise standards for personnel administration and service
  • Delegate authority and supervise work activities of all employees
  • Provide proper training for staff including safety and standard operating procedures
  • Manage budget planning, authorize expenditures and monitor cost controls
  • Perform sales and marketing duties including community engagement and coordinating promotions
  • Inspect guest rooms, public areas, and grounds for cleanliness and appearance
  • Address guest complaints and resolve employee issues
  • Conduct wage scale surveys and ensure adherence to wage guidelines
  • Manage bank deposits, employee paperwork, work schedules and payroll
  • Order supplies and equipment as needed
  • Be available 24/7 with reliable transportation
