Job Description

AEG, or Anschutz Entertainment Group, is a globally recognized leader in the sports and live entertainment industry, boasting more than two decades of transformative operations. Hosting over 160 million guests annually and presenting upwards of 22,000 events worldwide, AEG commands a substantial presence through 300-plus venues, elite sports franchises, marquee music brands, integrated entertainment districts, a premier ticketing platform, and extensive global sponsorship activations. With a mission grounded in innovation, artistry, and community, AEG emphasizes diversity and inclusion throughout its workforce, reflecting the varied artists, athletes, and fans it serves. The company also prioritizes sustainability by implementing eco-conscious practices across its operational spectrum.

Situated in the scenic hills of Saratoga, California, The Mountain Winery is a notable facet of AEG’s vast portfolio. This iconic outdoor concert venue and working vineyard has been a cherished destination since 1958, attracting an annual audience exceeding 150,000. The venue’s approximately 2,500-seat amphitheater is lauded for its intimate, backyard ambiance and has hosted legendary musical performances, earning recognition as a California Historical Landmark and consistently ranked among the top coolest outdoor music venues in the country. Its unique fusion of live entertainment, hospitality, and magnificent views of the South Bay makes it a premier location for concerts, weddings, and cultural gatherings.

The General Manager position at The Mountain Winery is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for the comprehensive management and operational success of the venue. This full-time role commands a salary range of $100,314.03 to $160,242.93 and is eligible for bonuses under the current bonus plan. The General Manager’s purview includes overseeing all facets of facility operation including booking, finance, marketing, staffing, production, and maintenance. This position demands strategic direction and coordination of subordinate departments to ensure seamless event execution and exemplary guest experiences.

Key responsibilities include recruiting and managing a skilled team, developing organizational structures, and establishing performance standards that promote excellence and accountability. The General Manager must also oversee the creation and management of an annual operating calendar, coordinate facility usage, and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations such as OSHA and CalOSHA. Fiscal prudence is critical, with duties encompassing budget preparation, cost control, and financial reporting to city officials and management firms.

Interpersonal skills are vital as this role acts as a liaison with corporate staff, industry partners, regulatory bodies, media representatives, and the public. Attention to customer service responsiveness, training program development, and operational safety underline the position’s scope. A successful candidate will be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a creative and detail-oriented approach.

AEG offers a robust benefits package for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, company-paid life insurance options, parental leave, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, and various wellness initiatives. This comprehensive package reflects AEG's commitment to its workforce’s well-being and professional growth.

Overall, the General Manager at The Mountain Winery is a dynamic and influential role perfect for a seasoned professional with extensive experience in venue management, leadership, budgeting, and production oversight.
