The role of the General Manager at The Works Cafe is instrumental in driving the restaurant’s success by providing strong, positive leadership and managing the entire operation efficiently. The General Manager is fundamentally responsible for fostering a guest-focused atmosphere, maintaining a high standard of food safety and sanitation, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. This full-time position requires overseeing daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash management, inventory control, and labor cost management to maximize profitability. Moreover, the General Manager leads recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of restaurant staff, including shift leaders, bakers, and support personnel, while promoting teamwork and staff development. They also play a crucial role in ensuring excellent customer service, addressing guest feedback, implementing operational efficiencies, and engaging with the local community to foster beneficial partnerships.

This position demands exceptional leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to adapt and embrace change. The ideal candidate is motivated, guest-focused, proficient in managing multiple facets of restaurant operations, and capable of motivating and developing their team. Working conditions include standing for extended periods, performing repetitive motions such as bending and reaching, handling objects up to 50 pounds, and working in small or sometimes extreme temperature environments. The schedule typically involves 50 hours per week with 10-hour shifts, including availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays. With a salary range of 65,000 to 75,000 USD per year, this role offers a competitive compensation package and opportunities for monthly bonuses and career advancement within a nurturing and dynamic restaurant environment.

  • complete vendor orders to maintain stock within par needs

  • ensure restaurant budget is met as determined by District Manager
