The General Manager II (GMII) position at HMSHost is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing complex Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) or Casual Dining establishments, or a small cluster of such locations, typically generating annual sales exceeding $4 million. This role demands a highly skilled leader who ensures that restaurants are impeccably maintained, optimally staffed, and operated with a sharp focus on operational excellence and financial performance. Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant restaurant experience
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams
  • Ability to work varied and rotating schedules
  • Understanding of food service management principles
  • Proficiency with management information systems
  • Ability to ensure compliance with safety and health standards
  • Capability to handle multiple priorities and problem-solve effectively

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills managing QSR or Casual Dine restaurants with P&L responsibility
  • Minimum of 3 years restaurant P&L management experience
  • 5-7 years overall restaurant experience in similar settings
  • Graduation from Food Service Management or Culinary program is a plus
  • Strong team management, delegation, and issue resolution skills
  • Knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, and operational standards
  • Ability to interpret financial and operational information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Open and close the restaurant ensuring all procedures are followed
  • Deploy staff and resources to maximize profitability
  • Assign work tasks, prepare schedules, and ensure shifts are covered
  • Provide coaching, support, and encouragement to restaurant staff
  • Interview, hire, promote, and manage associate statuses
  • Ensure compliance with diversity, inclusion, and onboarding/offboarding processes
  • Manage product availability and maintain working equipment
  • Monitor financial and operational reports to meet restaurant goals
  • Develop and implement creative strategies to increase revenue
  • Maintain brand standards and operational protocols
  • Manage day-to-day activities and resolve associate and customer issues
  • Implement marketing and promotional programs
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal standards
  • Train managers and associates on safety protocols
  • Oversee response to audits and maintain wellness check protocols
