Job Description

HMSHost is a global hospitality company dedicated to delivering exceptional service and memorable experiences in the food service industry. With a strong focus on airport dining and travel-related eateries, HMSHost operates a diverse portfolio of Quick Service Restaurants (QSR), Casual Dining, and other food venues located in high-traffic transportation hubs around the world. The company is recognized for its size, resources, industry expertise, innovative training programs, and commitment to offering advancement opportunities to its employees. HMSHost fosters a supportive and engaging culture that emphasizes appreciation, inclusion, and professional growth, making it an ideal workplace for those passionate about hospitality and service excellence.

This particular job opening is for the position of General Manager II, offering an annual salary ranging between $65,069 and $76,552. The role involves managing a complex restaurant environment—either a single large Quick Service or Casual Dining restaurant or a small cluster of restaurants and points-of-sale that collectively generate annual sales exceeding $4 million. The General Manager II (GMII) holds comprehensive responsibility for the entire operation, ensuring that the restaurant is clean, staffed appropriately, open for business, and maintains high operational and financial standards. This management role requires broad discretion and good judgment, as the GMII is charged with making critical leadership decisions that affect the success of the restaurant.

Key responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations from staffing and deployment to product availability, equipment maintenance, and brand compliance. The GMII must inspire and engage employees through effective coaching and management behaviors that boost team morale and productivity. They play an essential role in hiring, training, and retaining staff while promoting diversity and inclusion within the workplace. The position demands proficiency in financial management, including P&L accountability, and the ability to analyze operational reports and data to inform decision-making. Strong leadership skills are vital, as the GMII will be monitoring performance, motivating the team, and implementing strategies to increase revenue and customer satisfaction.

Compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards at the local, state, and federal levels is a critical aspect of this role. The GMII ensures that all associates understand and adhere to safety protocols, including current wellness practices and COVID-19 requirements. This position requires adaptability, as it involves a varied rotational schedule to cover different shifts and peak operational periods. Reporting typically lines up to a Director of Operations or area leader, situating the GMII as a pivotal figure in both frontline management and strategic execution.

HMSHost values manager-coaches who demonstrate reliability, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to creating a positive workplace where employees thrive and travelers enjoy superior dining experiences. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, embraces new technology and brand standards, and consistently works toward personal and organizational excellence while having fun and fostering teamwork. Joining HMSHost as a General Manager II means becoming part of a dynamic company where your leadership will make a tangible difference in the service and hospitality industry.
