As a General Manager under the Portfolio Group umbrella, you will hold a critical leadership role responsible for planning, managing, and guiding multiple contracted services for clients generating between $2 million and $15 million or more in annual revenue. This position is salaried, offering compensation between $100,000 and $120,000. The successful candidate will oversee operations across a variety of services, including but not limited to food service, facility support, custodial services, retail operations, lodging, and transportation. The General Manager leads teams responsible for delivering excellent service aligned with client goals while meeting financial and operational objectives.
The General Manager functions as a capable and proactive operations manager, balancing hands-on management with strategic oversight. This role requires strong financial acumen to manage budgets in partnership with finance teams, ensuring optimal productivity and profitability. A critical part of the role includes maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and adhering to Aramark's standards of operation, safety protocols, and business conduct policies.
In addition to operational duties, the General Manager cultivates positive relationships with clients and the broader community, consistently evaluating service delivery and developing plans for improvement and growth. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree highly preferred
- Proven leadership experience in food service, hospitality, or catering environments
- Experience managing scaled catering operations and leading through managers
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to comprehend and implement contract requirements
- Experience in service industry or contract services
- Experience leading managers
- Ability to manage budgets and financial controls
- Experience in sales strategy and operational program implementation
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree level education highly preferred in an area of Food Service, Hospitality, Facilities, or Business Management
- Proven leadership experience in catering, hospitality, or food service environments, with a demonstrated ability to oversee scaled catering operations, lead through managers and supervisors, and deliver exceptional client and guest experiences while driving business growth
- Savvy interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, senior management, and Aramark support staff
- Comfortable reading, understanding, and implementing contractual requirements, including identifying opportunities within contract terms and conditions to address operational issues
- Meaningful experience in service industry, contract services, or hospitality environment
- Proven ability leading through other managers
- Experience in creating and managing a department budget, financial controls and analysis
- Experience crafting product sales strategies and implementing operational programs and initiatives
Job Duties
- Leads a team that provides operational expertise in contracted services while providing hands-on execution management of operations
- Manages the client and community relationships at the location, continually assessing operations, and developing plans to provide optimal service and drive employee and customer satisfaction
- Builds, develops, and leads a management team and staff capable of carrying out organizational objectives
- Recommends methods, resources, and implementation for service improvement and growth based on understanding of operational needs, capabilities, & contractual obligations
- In partnership with Finance, manages a budget and assists in the design of improvements to optimize financial performance and operational productivity
- Manages compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and codes and maintains all associated records and reports
- Ensures compliance with Aramark's standards of operation including safety standards and Aramark's Business Conduct Policy at all times
