The role of General Manager I (GM) at HMSHost is a pivotal leadership position responsible for managing a quick service restaurant (QSR) or a small cluster of closely located restaurant points of sale with sales typically up to $5 million annually. This is a full-time, exempt position that requires a proven track record of restaurant management success and financial accountability, including profit and loss (P&L) responsibility. The General Manager ensures that the restaurant operates efficiently, remains clean, is appropriately staffed, and meets high operational and financial standards. This leadership role involves a wide range of management duties including staffing, financial oversight, operational excellence, compliance with health and safety regulations, and driving revenue growth.

As the face of the restaurant, the General Manager uses sound judgment and discretion to make effective leadership decisions that directly impact the establishment's overall success. The GM will be responsible for coaching and developing a diverse team, managing work schedules, executing opening and closing procedures, and ensuring that all members of the team understand the importance of each responsibility. They also handle onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring compliance with company training protocols and badging requirements.

Job Requirements

  • minimum of 3 years documented restaurant management experience
  • 5 to 7 years overall restaurant experience in a similar environment
  • food service management or culinary program graduation preferred or equivalent experience
  • ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions and policy documents
  • capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • willingness to work varied schedules including weekends and holidays
  • understanding of company policies and diversity and inclusion practices
