Job Description
Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is a premier luxury resort nestled on the breathtaking shores of Hawaii, surrounded by pristine white-sand beaches and the dramatic black-lava landscapes of the island. Since its opening in September 1996, this distinguished resort has been a sanctuary for travelers seeking an unparalleled blend of natural beauty, Hawaiian culture, and world-class hospitality. Boasting 249 exquisite rooms and an expansive 384-home residential community, the resort offers a unique combination of high-volume, high-average daily rate operations coupled with a loyal, repeat clientele. With a diverse range of amenities including five guest-facing restaurants, a complex pool and beach area, a large, established spa and wellness center, retail outlets, and golf facilities, Four Seasons Resort Hualalai presents an exceptional leisure destination.
The role of the General Manager at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is a pivotal leadership position that demands a dynamic, values-driven individual who can uphold the spirit of aloha while driving operational excellence and fostering a high-performing team. This leadership position requires extensive experience managing Forbes 5-star properties or similar luxury resorts, with a demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional guest experiences and innovate within a competitive and evolving hospitality landscape. The General Manager will be responsible for capital project management, strategic business development, and nurturing meaningful partnerships with leisure and group market segments, all while maintaining the resort’s unparalleled standards of service and quality.
As a culture bearer within the resort, the General Manager will lead a large, tenured team in a high-volume environment, balancing guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and financial performance. The successful candidate should have a sophisticated understanding of diverse guest and member needs, including homeowners and renters across the resort and the club community. This role demands excellence in coaching, motivating, and inspiring staff, managing labor and expenses effectively, and maintaining discretion and privacy in all interactions.
Emphasizing innovation, the General Manager will drive a high-touch, world-class product by leveraging the latest industry trends and incorporating technology to enhance the guest experience. This includes overseeing the improvement of service standards, maintaining the resort’s long-standing Forbes five-star rating, and creatively enhancing the physical environment and guest offerings. Strong financial acumen is essential, including the ability to interpret complex reports, identify market trends, and optimize operational revenues across food and beverage, spa, and other departments.
Four Seasons Resort Hualalai offers a competitive salary range between $325,000 and $360,000 and a suite of comprehensive benefits designed to support the wellbeing and professional growth of its employees. These include access to on-site physical therapy, 24-hour indoor and outdoor fitness facilities, paid holiday, vacation, and sick leave, a robust benefits plan, and a company-matching 401K plan. The resort also provides laundered employee uniforms, complimentary meals prepared by the culinary team, opportunities for complimentary stays at Four Seasons properties worldwide, and dedicated training and development programs coupled with employee recognition initiatives.
Joining Four Seasons Resort Hualalai means becoming part of an ‘ohana’—a family dedicated to creating lifelong impressions for guests through genuine hospitality and mutual respect. This is an extraordinary opportunity for a seasoned hospitality leader to contribute to a prestigious, culturally rich environment, setting new benchmarks in luxury resort management while fostering a supportive and engaging workplace. The General Manager will not only enhance the guest experience but also actively build relationships within the local community, supporting homeowner and member relations to sustain the resort’s legacy of excellence and aloha spirit.
