Job Description
WFP Elk Grove LLC is an established hospitality management company dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences and fostering a supportive, empowering work environment for its employees. The company is currently seeking a dynamic, experienced General Manager to lead the Holiday Inn Express located in Elk Grove through a pivotal transition phase. This hotel is undergoing a comprehensive renovation and is planned to rebrand as a SpringHill Suites by Marriott in the near future. WFP Elk Grove LLC prides itself on creating a culture where every team member feels valued and integral to the daily success of the property, which is reflected in the strong emphasis on customer service and employee development.
The General Manager will be vital in steering this transformation. This hands-on leadership role requires a highly capable professional who thrives on change, excels at team-building, and possesses a relentless commitment to operational excellence and financial performance. The successful candidate will provide overall leadership and direction for daily hotel operations including front office, housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast services, and sales functions. As the property undergoes renovation, the General Manager will ensure that guest experience remains exceptional, ensuring high satisfaction levels despite construction activity. They will lead efforts to build a positive, accountable culture among employees, promoting engagement, coaching, and recognition.
In addition to operational oversight, the General Manager will manage budgets, payroll, forecasting, purchasing, and financial performance analysis to meet ownership goals. They will utilize key performance metrics such as occupancy rates, average daily rates, RevPAR, guest satisfaction scores, and labor productivity to optimize revenue and profitability. Collaboration with revenue management will be essential to enhance market positioning and seize revenue opportunities. Compliance with Marriott brand standards, Marriott quality assurance protocols, OSHA regulations, and local laws is mandatory.
Furthermore, the General Manager will oversee preventative maintenance programs and ensure the property’s physical condition is maintained throughout ongoing and future renovations. Administrative duties such as payroll review, invoice approvals, financial reporting, inventory control, and audits also fall under their purview. The role demands a leader who leads by example with professionalism, integrity, and accountability, and who is willing to support any department operationally as needed. This position offers a unique chance to be part of the launch of a newly renovated Marriott-branded hotel and make a lasting impact within the hotel and broader community.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management business administration or related field preferred but equivalent experience considered
- Minimum of three years of hotel general manager or assistant general manager experience with demonstrated operational success
- Strong financial acumen including budgeting forecasting labor management and expense control
- Proven ability to develop coach and retain high-performing teams
- Experience analyzing STR reports market trends and key hotel performance metrics
- Knowledge of Marriott brand standards and quality assurance preferred
- Excellent leadership communication organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead teams through periods of change and maintain guest satisfaction
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of hotel general manager or assistant general manager experience
- Marriott experience strongly preferred
- IHG experience valued
- Experience opening renovating repositioning or converting hotels highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of hotel operations including front office housekeeping engineering food beverage breakfast revenue management and sales
- Proven ability to develop coach and retain high-performing teams
- Strong financial acumen including budgeting forecasting labor management and expense control
- Experience analyzing STR reports market trends and key hotel performance metrics
- Excellent leadership communication organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize effectively make sound decisions in fast-paced hospitality environment
- Working knowledge of Marriott brand standards and quality assurance processes preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management business administration or related field preferred but equivalent experience considered
Job Duties
- Provide overall leadership and direction for all hotel operations including front office housekeeping maintenance breakfast and sales
- Lead property through renovation and conversion to SpringHill Suites by Marriott maintaining guest service
- Foster positive accountable service-focused culture engaging and developing employees
- Recruit hire train coach and develop department leaders and associates
- Ensure exceptional guest satisfaction through proactive service recovery quality assurance and continuous improvement
- Manage labor costs payroll budgets forecasting purchasing and financial performance
- Analyze hotel performance including occupancy ADR RevPAR guest satisfaction labor productivity and profitability
- Partner with revenue management to maximize market share revenue opportunities and competitive positioning
- Ensure compliance with Marriott brand standards quality assurance local regulations OSHA standards and company policies
- Oversee preventative maintenance programs and maintain property condition
- Maintain accurate administrative functions including payroll review invoice approvals financial reporting inventory controls and audits
- Build relationships with guests ownership vendors community partners and brand representatives
- Lead by example with professionalism integrity accountability and willingness to support departments operationally
