Job Description
Alpaca Chicken is a veteran, minority, and family-owned fast-casual restaurant established in 2007, renowned for its commitment to quality, respect, and gratitude. The restaurant specializes in authentic Peruvian cuisine, with its signature Pollo a la Brasa — marinated and slow-cooked over wood charcoal — offering customers flavorful and wholesome meals made from all-natural ingredients free of added hormones or FDA allergens. Alpaca Chicken prides itself on providing protein- and flavor-rich dishes that support a happy and healthy lifestyle for its guests. Renowned locally as serving "the best chicken in town," Alpaca Chicken combines tradition, health-conscious options, and affordability, making it a favorite choice for families and individuals seeking quick, guilt-free dining experiences.
Joining Alpaca Chicken means becoming part of a team dedicated to exceeding guest expectations through genuine service and exceptional food quality. The company culture is deeply rooted in core values such as family, integrity, respect, gratitude, and quality. Employees are encouraged to support one another as a work family, uphold high moral principles, and express gratitude for the opportunity to serve their community. These values foster a welcoming environment for both staff and guests, reinforcing a positive and productive workplace.
The General Manager (GM) position at Alpaca Chicken is a vital leadership role offering a competitive salary range of $55,000 to $60,000 per year. The GM is responsible for overseeing all aspects of daily restaurant operations to ensure the success and growth of the store. This role requires passionate and experienced leadership with strong communication skills and the ability to motivate and develop a collaborative team focused on delivering excellent service.
As General Manager, you will take ownership of driving store sales, maintaining high guest satisfaction levels, and upholding the integrity of company standards. You will lead recruiting, hiring, training, and coaching efforts for the restaurant team to build a strong, effective workforce. Your leadership will contribute to maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy facility by enforcing sanitation protocols, health regulations, and operational safety standards. Effective budgeting, cost control, and inventory management will be key to sustaining store profitability, all while fostering a results-driven environment.
The role also involves maintaining strong communication channels across multiple levels, including the Area Operations Director, fellow Store GMs, and cross-functional departments such as Catering, Administration, Sales and Events, Maintenance, IT, and Training. This interdisciplinary collaboration is crucial to ensuring operational excellence and supporting the broader organizational goals. You will manage scheduling, food ordering, and inventory processes to optimize labor and food costs.
Alpaca Chicken values its General Managers not just as operational leaders but as ambassadors of the brand and its values. This position offers a dynamic and varied workday, requiring adaptability and calm decision-making in fast-paced conditions. The role demands dedication to a regular 50 to 55-hour workweek, with night, weekend, and holiday shifts as necessary. Bilingual ability in English and Spanish is strongly preferred to enhance communication within the diverse team and customer base.
Working at Alpaca Chicken comes with many benefits designed to support and reward hard work. These include quarterly GM bonus potential, paid time off, one free meal during each full work shift, a 20% discount on dining during off days, and celebrations for winter holidays. The company also provides specific holidays off on major occasions like Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Christmas, and New Year’s Day, although these are determined on a store-by-store basis.
Being part of Alpaca Chicken means embracing a mission to deliver excellence on every plate and within every interaction. The General Manager role is a unique leadership opportunity for individuals passionate about food service, team development, and customer satisfaction within a company that truly lives its values every day. Join Alpaca Chicken and contribute to a culture where respect, gratitude, and quality define the dining experience and workplace alike.
