Job Description
This job opening is for a General Manager position at a restaurant that values creating a positive work culture aligned with company values. This establishment is a hospitality business focused on providing excellent dining experiences to guests by managing all facets of restaurant operation. The General Manager plays a critical leadership role responsible for the day-to-day management of the restaurant. This includes overseeing the selection, development, and performance management of employees to maintain a skilled and motivated team. The role also requires meticulous management of inventory, ordering of food and supplies, and ensuring optimal profitability by controlling costs without compromising quality. The General Manager reports directly to the District Manager, indicating a clear chain of leadership and responsibility within the organizational structure.
The General Manager is also responsible for maintaining compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, underlining the importance of a safe and hygienic dining environment. Responsibilities further include upholding consistent food quality and service excellence, maintaining a professional restaurant image, and overseeing portion control to reduce waste. To fulfill these operational duties, the General Manager must be ServSafe certified and committed to weekly food quality audits.
Guest satisfaction is a primary focus of the role; therefore, the General Manager must ensure high standards of guest service, actively resolve complaints and strive to convert dissatisfied guests into returning customers. Operational management duties also encompass shift scheduling, managing daily decisions on product quality and restaurant cleanliness, and maintaining a safe working environment for both employees and guests.
In terms of personnel management, the General Manager is deeply involved in recruitment, training, supervision, and coaching. Developing employees to advance into leadership roles such as Shift Leaders or future General Managers is a key part of the job. Regular communication with the team through monthly meetings helps maintain clear expectations and reinforces company policies. The General Manager also must keep the District Manager informed of any significant issues or positive developments and respond swiftly to challenges facing the restaurant.
The work schedule requires approximately 50 hours per week, including working the busiest days, with shifts spread across openings, middays, and closings to ensure comprehensive coverage. This demanding role suits a dynamic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to upholding high standards in restaurant management, guest satisfaction, financial controls, and staff development. The restaurant embraces technology-driven recruitment initiatives and provides accommodations for candidates needing alternative selection processes.
