The role of General Manager at Yoshinoya is pivotal to the successful operation of an assigned restaurant. As a leader, the General Manager ensures the restaurant adheres to Yoshinoya's policies, procedures, and operational standards, fostering an environment that supports both team development and exceptional guest experiences. This position is hourly, with a competitive wage range of $25 to $32 per hour, supplemented by a comprehensive benefits package including accrued paid time off, company holidays, floating holidays, free meals during shifts, medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K match up to 3%, pet insurance, and low premiums.

The General Manager is cross-trained in every aspect of restaurant operations, from food preparation and cooking to cashiering and guest relations. This hands-on approach enables them to lead by example, ensuring quality and consistency in product and service. Key responsibilities include supervising and directing staff, training team members, managing schedules and labor costs, conducting inventory, and maintaining food safety and sanitation standards. In addition, the General Manager handles performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and recruitment efforts to build and nurture a competent workforce. The role demands strong communication skills and collaboration with the District Manager and corporate office to achieve business goals and uphold brand standards.

Furthermore, the General Manager oversees the restaurant's physical environment, ensuring cleanliness, proper functioning of machinery, and a safe workplace. They are responsible for placing work orders for repairs and conducting monthly safety meetings to promote workplace safety. Traveling may be part of the role, including trips to the bank for cashier change and visits to other locations as needed. The position also involves attending quarterly corporate meetings and regular sessions with the District Manager to stay aligned with company initiatives and operational priorities.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Participates daily in food preparation, cooking, plating, cashiering, and guest relations while supervising and directing others
  • Serves as backup to crewmembers and covers breaks as needed
  • Ensures all food and beverages are made and presented according to Yoshinoya specifications, procedures, and safe handling requirements
  • Effectively trains staff and monitors activities throughout the shift, providing consistent feedback including recognition and positive reinforcement
  • Conducts performance reviews with the District Manager
  • Issues disciplinary notices to employees as necessary
  • Ensures all food and supplies are properly ordered and placed
  • Ensures all orders are quickly put away and items are rotated using the FIFO (first in/first out) method
  • Conducts weekly and monthly inventory
  • Effectively manages crew schedules and labor costs based on business need and crew availability
  • Ensures all cash handling procedures are consistently enforced
  • Ensures the restaurant is clean and all machinery is properly functioning
  • Places work orders for service and repair of machinery
  • Ensures a safe work environment by reviewing and enforcing safety policies and holding monthly safety meetings
  • Recruits, interviews, and trains new crewmembers
  • Communicates effectively with crewmembers, the District Manager, and the corporate office
  • Attends quarterly meetings at the corporate office
  • Attends meetings with the District Manager
  • Travels to the bank to obtain change for cashiers as needed
  • May travel to other locations
