Job Description

High Point University (HPU) is a distinguished institution known for its commitment to providing an exceptional learning environment and an extraordinary hospitality experience. Central to this commitment is the Jana and Ken Kahn Hotel, a state-of-the-art facility designed to accommodate the growing number of students and families drawn to the university. The Kahn Hotel offers beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites alongside a fine-dining restaurant, creating a luxurious and welcoming atmosphere for all guests. This hotel is uniquely connected to the Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center, a dynamic venue that hosts HPU's men's and women's basketball teams as well as a variety of major events, including speakers, concerts, entertainment, academic symposia, and recreational activities.

Aramark Destinations, a leading service provider renowned for its exceptional standards in hospitality, is seeking a General Manager (GM) to lead the hospitality experience at High Point University. The position is critical to maintaining the university's internationally recognized Premier Life Skills model and Extraordinary Hospitality Standards. This is a full-time leadership role with a significant responsibility to ensure that multiple contracted services operate seamlessly, generating between $2 million and $15 million or more in revenue. The GM will guide and manage diverse contracted services that may include food service, facility support, custodial services, retail, lodging, and transportation among others. The ideal candidate will be an experienced operations manager who combines deep operational knowledge, financial acumen, relationship-building skills, and a passion for providing outstanding service.

In this pivotal role, the General Manager will lead a team dedicated to delivering excellent hospitality and service experiences to both clients and customers. The role requires hands-on execution and operational management expertise to effectively oversee the day-to-day activities while continuously improving service quality. The GM will be responsible for fostering strong client and community relationships, assessing operational effectiveness regularly, and developing strategic plans to enhance service delivery and increase satisfaction for employees and customers alike.

Leadership development is a crucial aspect of the GM's responsibilities, as they will build, train, and lead a high-performing management team capable of meeting the organizational objectives and exceeding service expectations. This position also involves evaluating methods, resources, and strategies for service improvement and growth, ensuring all operations align with contractual obligations and organizational standards.

Financial leadership forms a core component of the job, with the GM partnering closely with Finance to manage budgets, optimize financial performance, and enhance operational productivity. Compliance management is another vital responsibility, ensuring all local, state, and federal regulatory requirements are met, and that all pertinent records and reports are maintained meticulously. The GM will uphold Aramark’s strict standards including safety protocols and the Business Conduct Policy, ensuring a safe, ethical, and professional workplace for all team members.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Job Qualifications
