This position is for a General Manager role within the Food & Nutrition Services Department at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, located in Center City Philadelphia. The role is full-time and involves overseeing daily operations to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and meeting financial and client objectives. The General Manager focuses on managing patient feeding, retail, and catering services, aiming to provide high-quality food service in a safe and sanitary environment. This leadership position requires strong operational management skills, a deep understanding of the healthcare food service client business, and the ability to build positive relationships with clients and team members. The role entails driving patient satisfaction scores by upholding Aramark Healthcare standards, managing departmental budgets, and leading a diverse team including Food Service Managers, Supervisors, and front-line employees. The General Manager is responsible not only for operational performance but also for staff development, engagement, and compliance with human resource policies. Excellence in food quality, cost control, cash handling, and safety compliance are key priorities. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • Previous leadership experience in healthcare food service
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Experience with budget management and financial controls
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple teams and operations
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing job duties
  • Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Service, Hospitality, Facilities, Business Management or related field preferred
  • Previous experience leading Food & Nutrition department in a large acute care hospital
  • Experience managing a union workforce is a plus
  • Strong focus on client and customer services, entrepreneurship and business growth
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with clients, senior management, and support staff
  • Ability to read, understand, and implement contractual requirements
  • Experience in service industry, contract services, or hospitality environment
  • Proven ability to lead through other managers
  • Experience in creating and managing budgets, financial controls, and analysis
  • Experience in product sales strategies and operational program implementation

Job Duties

  • Delivers strong operational performance by executing against Aramark Healthcare and regulatory agency standards and programs
  • continually monitors operations and completes assessments and necessary action plans to provide optimal food quality and meal service
  • drives patient and customer satisfaction
  • Ensures compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards
  • Interacts with client management and maintains effective client and customer relations at all levels of client organization, including conducting rounding
  • Identifies Aramark service expansion opportunities
  • Provides overall direction and manages performance for all Food Service Managers, Supervisors and front line employees, ensuring employee development, engagement and compliance with human resource related policies and standards, including conducting applicable rounding
  • Directs, staffs, and trains food service department regarding food presentation, quality, cost control, and cash handling
  • Develops operational component forecasts and explains variances
  • responsible for component's accounting functions
  • Ensures compliance with all contract obligations
