Job Description

Marriott International is a globally renowned hospitality company known for its commitment to exceptional guest experiences and excellence in hotel management. With a presence in numerous countries, Marriott stands as a leader in the hotel industry, offering a diverse portfolio of brands and properties that cater to a wide range of travelers. The company prides itself on maintaining high standards of quality, innovative service, and fostering a positive culture among its associates. Marriott’s dedication to hospitality is evident in its continuous efforts to enhance guest satisfaction, adopt sustainable practices, and invest in the professional growth of its team members. The General Manager (GM) role at Marriott is pivotal to the ongoing success and reputation of each hotel property. This position requires a dynamic leader capable of overseeing day-to-day operations, driving revenue, and ensuring the hotel adheres to both corporate and brand standards.

The General Manager position requires previous Marriott GM experience, emphasizing the importance of familiarity with Marriott’s operational standards and culture. The expected opening date for this role is September 2026, offering an opportunity for a strategic, forward-thinking manager to take the helm and influence the future direction of the hotel. Opening experience is preferred but not mandatory, offering some flexibility for qualified candidates. The GM is responsible for overall hotel success, including revenue generation to meet or exceed budget targets, cost control, and maintaining brand standards while ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for guests and employees alike.

This role involves comprehensive oversight of every department within the hotel, requiring hands-on leadership and a deep understanding of hospitality management. The GM is tasked with fostering a positive employee climate that supports high performance and excellent guest service. This leadership position demands strong capabilities in financial analysis, budget creation, and project management, including participation in capital improvement initiatives and strategic sales efforts. The General Manager serves as the hotel’s primary ambassador, maintaining strong communication lines with corporate staff while ensuring compliance with company policies and local regulations.

The GM must be proactive in managing staffing levels, recruiting top talent, and implementing effective training programs. Their role extends to maintaining and improving customer service scores by addressing deficiencies noted in brand reports and third-party reviews. Continual engagement in marketing planning and sales initiatives underscores the GM’s responsibility for driving occupancy and maximizing profitability. The ability to manage human resource functions such as progressive discipline, performance reviews, and employee motivation is crucial, as is adherence to health and safety guidelines, especially during health emergencies.

This comprehensive role requires a dedicated professional who can handle various responsibilities, ranging from financial oversight and operational leadership to staff development and brand compliance. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational skills, strong financial acumen, and a commitment to preserving Marriott’s reputation for quality and service excellence throughout their tenure.
