Job Description
Denny's is a renowned American diner-style restaurant chain that has been serving customers for decades with its signature all-day breakfast and diverse menu offerings. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and consistent quality, Denny's operates numerous locations across the country, each committed to providing exceptional dining experiences. Our Denny's location is currently seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to serve as our General Manager. This pivotal role is vital to maintaining the standards and success of the restaurant and plays a crucial part in overseeing all aspects of the business operations. This full-time position reports directly to the Area Manager and is designed for someone with a strong passion for hospitality and guest satisfaction.
The General Manager will be entrusted with the overall execution and management of daily restaurant functions, including staff management, achieving financial targets, and driving sales and guest growth. Duties such as controlling expenses, implementing corporate initiatives, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards are key to this role. Our General Manager must be proficient in interpreting financial and operational reports, utilizing data-driven strategies to enhance restaurant performance continuously. Ensuring all equipment and facilities comply with brand standards and governmental regulations is also part of the responsibility, along with developing and executing local marketing plans to build strong community relationships and expand business reach. This position requires excellent problem-solving skills, ability to multitask, and outstanding communication abilities to interact effectively with staff at all levels and guests alike.
Additionally, the job includes operational responsibilities such as managing cash handling, inventory, and enforcing workplace safety and sanitation protocols. The General Manager will also act as a role model by embodying company values, proactively addressing employee relations issues, and sustaining a positive and respectful work environment. Job Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years experience in restaurant, hospitality or retail management
- associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- ability to work 45-55 hours per week
- food safety manager certification required

Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years experience in restaurant, hospitality or retail management, additional operations and/or leadership experience strongly preferred
- associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience
- ability to work 45-55 hours per week
- food safety manager certification required
- strong organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
- ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English language
- possesses basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)

- occasional shifts in excess of 10 hours may be required due to the demands of the business

Job Duties

- ensures timely implementation, training and ongoing execution of all corporate initiatives and marketing promotions
- develops restaurant managers and hourly employees through corporate training programs, individual development plans and assignments
- provides coaching and constructive feedback to employees as needed
- ensures all equipment and facilities are in compliance with brand standards and all government regulations and takes corrective action when required
- attracts, hires, onboards and retains the best hourly talent to meet staffing requirements and guest service standards
- proactively handles employee relations issues and deviations from brand standards
- involves the AM and Human Resources Manager as appropriate to resolve issues
- develops and executes the local store marketing plan to build relationships with civic, business, school, and professional organizations to drive sales and guest counts
- monitors that proper security procedures are in place to protect employees, guests and company assets
- enforces sanitary practices for food handling, general cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen, dining areas and restrooms
- works to create and maintain an enjoyable and respectful environment for our guests and employees
- maintains compliance with all employer’s employment policies and brand standards to include all state, local and federal regulations
- follows management cash handling, inventory and other operational procedures as outlined by the employer
- completes all other tasks and duties as assigned
