Courtyard hotels emphasize comfort, convenience, and functionality to empower guests in both their professional and personal pursuits. The brand is driven by a small, ambitious team passionate about continuous improvement and excellence in guest service. This position functions as the primary strategic business leader of the property and carries comprehensive responsibility for all aspects of hotel operations. The manager will oversee general property performance, including food and beverage operations, development and execution of sales and marketing strategies, profitability management, revenue generation, human resources activities, and return on investment objectives for both Marriott International and property ownership.
Key to this role is leading the property team in the implementation of property-wide strategies that align with brand service initiatives and Marriott’s service standards. The goal is to meet or exceed guest expectations consistently. The candidate will build strong relationships with key customers and internal stakeholders, actively participating in the sales process to drive business growth. They must manage various operational areas such as labor management, quality assurance audits, guest satisfaction monitoring, and capital improvement projects including renovations and refreshes. Managing food and beverage include forecasting, par levels, quality control, vendor relations, compliance audits, and coaching the team on operational and technical tools.
Further responsibilities extend to sales and marketing where the manager partners with regional sales offices to set goals, devise and implement innovative marketing tactics that leverage brand advantages, engage in property sales reviews, and maintain top account relationships. Managing profitability involves controlling costs, analyzing financial and non-financial performance indicators, updating profit forecasts, invoice approvals, report consolidations, and ensuring compliance with purchasing controls.
The role also entails managing revenue goals by collaborating with the revenue management office to balance inventory effectively using analytics and industry data. Human resource duties include leading associate transitions, defining performance expectations, administering compensation and hiring processes, facilitating ongoing training and development, and monitoring local hiring trends.
