As a General Manager, you will lead a high-performing Pet Care Center with the goal of delivering an outstanding experience for pets, pet parents, and partners alike. As a community ambassador, you will represent Petco through local events, pet adoption initiatives, and community partnerships that reinforce the company’s positive impact.
This position requires strong leadership abilities, excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with a genuine passion for pets and customer service. Experience in retail management is preferred, and education requirements include a high school diploma or GED, with additional leadership development programs available for career growth. The General Manager must be present on the sales floor regularly, actively engaging with partners, customers, and pets while maintaining high standards of store appearance, safety, and pet care.

Job Requirements
- 3+ years of management experience (retail leadership preferred)
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to lead and develop diverse teams
- Strong business and financial acumen
- Excellent communication skills
- Passion for pets and customer service
- Availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to lift and move merchandise, supplies, or animals weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a Pet Care Center retail environment with exposure to animal dander, odors, noises, and cleaning chemicals
Job Qualifications
- 3+ years of management experience (retail leadership preferred)
- Strong people leadership, coaching, and talent development skills
- Solid business, financial, and operational acumen
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
- A genuine passion for pets and customer service
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of Petco leadership development programs may be required for internal candidates
