Job Description

Curry Up Now is a dynamic and rapidly growing restaurant brand with locations in San Mateo and Palo Alto, California. Known for its innovative approach to Indian cuisine, Curry Up Now has carved out a niche in the competitive fast casual and full service restaurant markets. With a strong commitment to quality, service, and community engagement, the company offers a vibrant work environment that encourages growth, leadership, and operational excellence. Each restaurant location functions as a hub for delivering an exceptional guest experience while maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. Curry Up Now's reputation is built on a foundation of delicious food, a passion for hospitality, and a culture that embraces diversity and continuous improvement. The company prioritizes the development and empowerment of its staff to ensure the sustained success of its brand and stores.

The General Manager role at Curry Up Now is a pivotal leadership position that oversees the entirety of the restaurant's operations in either the San Mateo full service location or the Palo Alto fast casual site. Reporting directly to the Director of Operations and CEO, the General Manager is the ultimate owner of the Profit and Loss (P&L) statement and is responsible for driving all aspects of the business including sales growth, labor management, cost control, and customer satisfaction. This full-time role requires a hands-on leader who can inspire and develop a high-performance team consisting of Assistant General Managers, Kitchen Managers, Shift Leads, and front-of-house staff. The General Manager will be accountable for maintaining the brand’s operational standards in service, quality, and cleanliness while executing local strategies that foster revenue growth and community engagement.

Leadership within this role extends beyond day-to-day operations. The General Manager will mentor and coach future leaders through structured reviews, training programs, and promotion goals. They will serve as the cultural ambassador for the brand at the local level, ensuring that Curry Up Now’s unique and fast-paced vibe is experienced by both the team and customers. Additionally, the General Manager will maintain key administrative duties such as payroll management, reporting, invoicing, and audit compliance to support smooth operational success.

To support growth and consistency across locations, the General Manager will complete franchise certification within 60 days and will provide training support for new restaurant openings and franchisees as needed. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and daily operational engagement, with a builder’s mindset focused on continuous improvement, problem solving, and execution excellence. Physical stamina is also important as the role involves time on the floor, occasional heavy lifting, and willingness to support all restaurant service functions during peak times.

Curry Up Now offers competitive compensation aligned with market benchmarks, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including paid vacation, sick leave, medical insurance, commuter benefits, and maternity/paternity leave. This opportunity is perfect for an experienced restaurant leader with 3 to 5 plus years of general management or multi-unit leadership experience, a passion for hospitality, financial acumen, and a commitment to fostering inclusive and engaging work environments. If you are ready to lead a high-performance team, manage a thriving restaurant, and be part of a growing brand with significant momentum, Curry Up Now invites you to apply and take ownership of a key location in their expanding footprint.
