Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. is a leading pet specialty retailer committed to creating a world where all pets live their best lives. Established over 60 years ago, Petco has become "where the pets go" for a comprehensive range of products and services designed to meet every pet parent’s needs. From nutritious meals and engaging toys to trusted supplies and expert support, Petco prides itself on understanding the joys and challenges of pet parenthood. With a workforce of over 29,000 team members and more than 1,500 stores across the U.S., Mexico, and Puerto Rico, Petco continues to nurture the bond between pets and their owners through innovative products, knowledgeable associates, and dedicated community programs. The company also operates over 250 Vetco Total Care hospitals, preventive care clinics, and distribution centers, anchoring its position as a full-service pet care leader. Since 1999, Petco Love has supported local animal welfare groups and has contributed to finding loving homes for approximately seven million animals through in-store adoption events. The culture at Petco is built on core values: Pet First - Protect & Empower, Foster the Fun - Connect & Bond, and Let's Go! Own & Commit. These principles guide the company’s commitment to pets and people alike, emphasizing integrity, passion, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Petco provides an environment where employees are encouraged to bring their whole selves to work, fostering wellbeing and authentic engagement. The General Manager role at Petco embodies these values by leading a high-performing Pet Care Center dedicated to pet health, exceptional customer experiences, and strong business outcomes. As the owner of the business, the General Manager is accountable for driving sales growth, profitability, and operational excellence, all while modeling outstanding leadership and ensuring the highest standards of animal care and safety. The role involves building and nurturing an inclusive, engaged team, attracting and developing diverse talent, and creating a culture where employees feel empowered and motivated. The General Manager also plays a crucial role in the local community by championing adoption initiatives, local events, and partnerships that reinforce Petco’s impact and values. Key responsibilities include managing financial results, labor, payroll, and inventory, as well as ensuring the store’s appearance, safety, and loss prevention standards. This role requires regular presence on the sales floor, interaction with customers and pets, and the ability to perform various physical tasks. Petco offers employees meaningful work that makes a tangible difference in the lives of pets and their families, with extensive career development opportunities and a supportive, inclusive company culture. Joining Petco means contributing to a purpose-driven mission with a team that is passionate about pets and dedicated to excellence.
