The General Manager role at Petco is a vital leadership position within the Pet Care Center that embodies the company’s core values—Pet First, Foster the Fun, and Let's Go. As a General Manager, you will be responsible for leading a high-performing team to deliver outstanding pet care, exceptional customer service, and strong business results. You will be the owner of your business unit, accountable for driving sales growth, profitability, operational excellence, and team engagement. This role requires a strategic and hands-on leader who is passionate about pets and people, knowledgeable about retail management, and driven to create a welcoming environment where pets and their parents feel valued and cared for.

In this full-time role, you will manage all facets of the Pet Care Center, including staffing, training, coaching, inventory control, merchandising, and operational processes. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of management experience, preferably in retail, with strong people leadership, financial acumen, and the ability to foster an inclusive and positive culture. You will lead by example, promoting integrity, discipline, and empowerment to ensure the highest standards of animal care and safety compliance. Your ability to analyze financial and operational metrics will enable you to identify opportunities for improvement and implement actionable plans that deliver results.

Job Requirements

  • Protect pets, partners, and merchandise through strong loss prevention and inventory controls
  • Complete required administrative, payroll, and inventory tasks accurately and on time
