Job Description

Aramark Student Nutrition is a leading provider of food and nutrition services to over 350 school districts across the United States. Aramark is currently seeking a General Manager to oversee multiple contracted service operations, typically generating revenue between $2 million to $15 million or more, ensuring the achievement of operational and financial goals, client satisfaction, and customer needs. The General Manager will be responsible for managing a diverse range of services that may include food service, facility support, custodial services, retail, lodging, transportation, and more, depending on the client’s requirements. This leadership position involves overseeing day-to-day operations, leading and developing management teams, building strong client and community relationships, and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations and Aramark’s standards of operation.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in operational management within the service or hospitality industries, demonstrating financial acumen and an ability to lead through other managers. This role requires a hands-on approach with a strong focus on safety, quality service delivery, and continuous improvement. Working closely with finance teams, the General Manager will manage budgets and implement strategies to enhance financial performance and operational productivity. Serving as the face of Aramark for clients, this role demands excellent interpersonal communication skills, contract comprehension, and the entrepreneurial mindset necessary to grow and improve service offerings.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience in service industry or related field
  • Strong leadership skills

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree level education highly preferred in an area of food service, hospitality, facilities, or business management
  • Ability to focus on client and customer services, entrepreneurship and building and growing a strong business
  • Savvy interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, senior management, and Aramark support staff
  • Comfortable reading, understanding, and implementing contractual requirements, including identifying opportunities within contract terms and conditions to address operational issues
  • Meaningful experience in service industry, contract services, or hospitality environment
  • Proven ability leading through other managers
  • Experience in creating and managing a department budget, financial controls and analysis
  • Experience crafting product sales strategies and implementing operational programs and initiatives

Job Duties

  • Lead a team that provides operational expertise in contracted services while providing hands-on execution management of operations
  • Manage client and community relationships at the location, continually assessing operations, and developing plans to provide optimal service and drive employee and customer satisfaction
  • Build, develop, and lead a management team and staff capable of carrying out organizational objectives
  • Recommend methods, resources, and implementation for service improvement and growth based on understanding of operational needs, capabilities, and contractual obligations
  • Partner with Finance to manage a budget and assist in the design of improvements to optimize financial performance and operational productivity
  • Manage compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and codes and maintain all associated records and reports
  • Ensure compliance with Aramark's standards of operation including safety standards and Aramark's Business Conduct Policy at all times
