Job Description
Schostak Family Restaurants (TSFR) is a well-established company specializing in the restaurant industry with numerous locations that emphasize quality service, community involvement, and operational excellence. TSFR is known for its commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences while fostering a positive and motivating work environment. The company places a high priority on its core purpose, vision, mission, and values, creating a culture where management and hourly TEAM Members work cohesively towards shared goals. With a dedication to training and development, TSFR ensures its leadership teams are well-equipped to handle both the operational and financial aspects of their restaurants while promoting professional growth and accountability throughout their locations.
The General Manager position at Schostak Family Restaurants is a crucial leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations and financial performance of a restaurant location. Reporting to the Area Director, the General Manager ensures high-quality guest service, fosters a positive work environment, and manages human capital effectively, including managers and hourly TEAM Members. This position demands a proven track record in restaurant management, with experience as an Assistant General Manager or prior General Manager within a similar organization. Candidates should have completed Apple II Management training and demonstrated a commitment to achieving business goals collaboratively with their supervisors.
The General Manager drives the restaurant’s culture by instilling the company’s core values and promoting a guest-obsessed mentality. Key responsibilities include managing restaurant operations, overseeing recruitment and performance management of managers and TEAM Members, ensuring compliance with company policies, maintaining controls over financial and inventory processes, and engaging with the local community to enhance the restaurant’s profile. The role also requires handling administrative duties, compliance with legal and safety standards, scheduling staff according to sales demand, and ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of restaurant facilities.
This leadership position demands exceptional multi-tasking, stress tolerance, and adaptability skills. The General Manager must exhibit professionalism, take accountability for restaurant performance, and lead by example to inspire cooperation and teamwork among all members of the restaurant staff. Candidates typically bring over seven years of multi-unit restaurant management experience with direct P&L responsibility, preferably within a national chain. Strong business acumen, the ability to manage change effectively, and proficiency with store-related technology are essential.
Physically and mentally, the role requires the ability to stand and walk for the majority of the shift, lift objects up to 50 pounds, and maintain the physical dexterity necessary for operations. Good verbal and written communication skills are critical, as is the ability to interpret documents and apply sound reasoning to problem-solving. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with an expectation that the General Manager maintains flexibility and resilience to adapt to change and lead their team under pressure.
Overall, the General Manager at Schostak Family Restaurants is a key driver of both operational success and team development, creating positive guest experiences while safeguarding the company’s assets and reputation. By embodying the company’s core values and leveraging a blend of leadership skills, business insight, and hands-on operational expertise, this role offers opportunities for professional growth and meaningful impact in the restaurant industry.
