Job Description

Reporting to the Area Director, the General Manager manages the daily activities, human capital, and overall guest experience to ensure the restaurant meets its business goals. This includes supervising managers and hourly team members, enforcing standards, and cultivating a workplace culture consistent with the company's vision and mission. The General Manager role requires in-depth knowledge of restaurant operations, exemplary leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should have prior experience as an Assistant General Manager or Unit General Manager, completed Apple II Management training, and demonstrated success in multi-unit restaurant management. This is a full-time position with responsibilities ranging from staff recruitment and development to financial controls and safety compliance.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, hospitality or hotel/restaurant management or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • Assistant General Manager or prior Unit General Manager experience with a similar organization
  • Completion of Apple II Management training
  • Minimum 7+ years of multi-unit restaurant management experience with direct P&L accountability
  • Exemplary restaurant operations leadership skills
  • Superior business acumen including at the market level
  • Ability to champion and integrate change regularly
  • Multi-tasking
  • High degree of stress tolerance
  • Able to adjust to change quickly
  • Self-motivated and disciplined
  • Accountable and goal oriented

Job Duties

  • Ensures prompt, friendly service according to company guidelines
  • Builds a culture using the vision and mission statement to guide values
  • Ensures immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints by self and staff
  • Refers all verbal and written guest complaints to area director
  • Ensures guest experience as a priority with self and staff utilizing a target goal of 100 percent table visitation
  • Teaches and enforces alcohol awareness and builds positive relationships with local authorities
  • Maintains adequate inventory levels
  • Ensures product preparation and presentation meet company standards uncompromisingly
  • Actively participates in the community to increase sales and enhance restaurant awareness
  • Implements and executes all incentive contests, educating team members on promotions and new menu offerings
  • Effectively oversees and schedules team members to meet sales demands
  • Maintains effective safety and security programs according to company policy and government standards
  • Promotes and manages restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation
  • Institutes preventative maintenance of all equipment and building, correcting needed repairs immediately
  • Advises area director of any non-routine situations
  • Communicates with other managers daily through management log and shift change meetings
  • Completes all other assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Ensures quality recruitment and referrals of potential management candidates
  • Adheres to and promotes training procedures of new managers
  • Maintains a trained staff through effective orientation, individual training sessions, meetings and policy implementation
  • Develops an environment of constant development including informal monthly reviews and written evaluations every six months
  • Assesses team member effectiveness and provides regular feedback
  • Ensures correct staffing levels using proper selection guidelines
  • Conducts thorough selecting interviews and selects new team members based on competency
  • Ensures exit interviews on all terminating team members
  • Demonstrates proper execution of training systems and emphasizes importance of training
  • Ensures acceptable team member performance and documents disciplinary situations
  • Conducts weekly management meetings and quarterly employee meetings
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and communicates changes promptly
  • Ensures timely performance one-on-ones with team members and written evaluations every six months
  • Acts as a coach to all team members
  • Ensures administrative and accounting duties are promptly and properly completed
  • Maintains and controls company assets
  • Assures compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Ensures the restaurant meets or exceeds operating budgets
  • Manages all service contracts to ensure routine and preventative maintenance
  • Monitors and manages capital expenditures
  • Analyzes systems and procedures with area director for continual improvement
  • Ensures all cash handling procedures are followed
  • Performs and analyzes weekly food and liquor inventories and costs
  • Prepares, oversees and submits accurate daily, weekly and monthly paperwork to the area director
  • Inspires cooperation and teamwork by building culture aligned with TSFR roadmap
  • Promotes a guest-obsessed environment
  • Completes assignments properly and on schedule
  • Develops personal and professional growth plans
  • Provides a role model for managers and team members
  • Exhibits a professional image
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on store technology
