Job Description
The Restaurant General Manager (RGM) is a critical leadership position within the dynamic restaurant industry, serving as the executive head responsible for steering a single restaurant towards profitability, operational excellence, and exceptional guest experiences. This role is integral to the success of the restaurant under the guidance of the District Manager and involves direct management of a diverse team, including an Assistant Manager, Hourly Shift Coordinators, and Team Members, which typically number between 20 to 45 employees. The RGM is entrusted with the comprehensive oversight of daily operations, ensuring alignment with the overarching corporate strategies and financial goals.
BKC is a recognized leader in the fast-casual dining sector, known for delivering quality service and maintaining strong community relationships. As an equal opportunity employer, BKC thrives on fostering a culture that values diversity, inclusion, and team collaboration. The company places a high emphasis on operational efficiency, guest satisfaction, and people development, which are all central to the RGM role. While the specific employment type is full-time, the General Manager position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to maintain superior operational standards and guest service.
In this role, the Restaurant General Manager holds primary accountability for the restaurant's profit and loss (P&L) statement, actively managing financial outcomes to drive superior profitability. The RGM reviews key P&L elements, implements strategies to boost sales, and enhances operational performance through proactive guest service and effective team leadership. A significant component of this position involves motivating and guiding team members to consistently provide accurate, friendly, and prompt service within a clean and welcoming environment. The RGM directly manages guest experience by overseeing operations and responding swiftly and effectively to guest concerns, utilizing feedback systems to identify root causes and develop corrective action plans.
Furthermore, the role includes community engagement responsibilities, whereby the manager identifies opportunities to connect with local patrons and execute targeted marketing initiatives to drive traffic and enhance community relations. People management is deeply embedded in this position, as the RGM leads recruitment, onboarding, training, and development efforts to build a motivated, skilled, and cohesive restaurant team. Recognition programs and ongoing coaching ensure staff remain inspired and capable, contributing to improved restaurant performance and employee retention.
Operationally, the RGM manages labor through strategic scheduling and appropriate staffing levels, ensures compliance with government regulations and employment laws, and upholds brand standards that reflect BKC's commitment to quality and consistency. The General Manager must be adaptive, capable of stepping into roles of Assistant Manager or Hourly Shift Coordinator as necessary to support smooth operations. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about hospitality management, have strong leadership qualities, and a strategic mindset for business success. Those who excel in this position demonstrate a balance of analytical skills for financial management, interpersonal skills for team and guest engagement, and operational expertise to sustain high standards during every shift.
