Job Description

Cantina Laredo is a renowned upscale Mexican restaurant chain known for its innovative approach to traditional Mexican cuisine, exceptional service, and vibrant dining atmosphere. Established with a commitment to delivering authentic yet modern flavors, the restaurant has grown to become a favorite destination for guests seeking both quality and cultural richness in their dining experience. Cantina Laredo focuses on providing an inviting ambiance that perfectly blends the festive spirit of Mexico with contemporary elegance. The company places strong emphasis on team collaboration, top-tier customer service, and maintaining a high standard of food safety and operational excellence. Working at Cantina Laredo offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic hospitality environment that values professional growth and sustained success.

The position of General Manager at Cantina Laredo plays a pivotal role in the successful operation and overall performance of the restaurant. Reporting directly to the Regional Manager, the General Manager is entrusted with comprehensive responsibility for business development, managing personnel, ensuring operational quality, and driving profitability. This leadership role demands a strategic mindset combined with hands-on management skills to cultivate a productive and motivated team, uphold rigorous service standards, and maintain compliance with health and safety protocols. The General Manager spearheads the development of subordinate managers through setting clear quarterly goals and regularly assessing progress, thereby fostering leadership continuity and enhancing the restaurant’s management depth.

Key responsibilities include developing monthly profit and loss projections to monitor financial health, implementing effective staffing strategies to optimize employee retention and recruitment, and proactively addressing any performance issues with corrective action plans. The General Manager also manages guest relations by efficiently resolving complaints and tackling crisis situations, ensuring every guest’s experience reflects the Cantina Laredo brand promise. Additionally, they actively engage with the local community to boost the restaurant’s visibility and sales efforts, strengthening Cantina Laredo’s presence and reputation within its market.

Performance standards for this role highlight the importance of personalized customer service, with a target of recognizing at least 50 regular customers by name, cultivating a collegial and high-expectation environment among management teams, and maintaining consistent oversight of all restaurant areas by regular circulation during shifts. The General Manager must demonstrate strong delegation skills to subordinate managers and set an energetic pace that motivates the entire staff.

Ideal candidates for this role will have completed specialized certifications such as Food Handlers Permit, TABC or ABC licenses where applicable, and preferably ServSafe Manager certification. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in restaurant management is required, with at least five years serving in a General Manager capacity, highlighting proven leadership and operational expertise in a fast-paced restaurant setting. Physical demands are consistent with typical roles in the hospitality industry, and accommodations are available to support individuals with disabilities in performing essential job functions. This role offers a fulfilling career opportunity in a vibrant, culturally rich restaurant environment dedicated to excellence in food service and guest satisfaction.
