Job Description
Wendy's is a renowned fast-food restaurant chain known for its commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. As a leader in the quick-service restaurant industry, Wendy's operates numerous franchised locations independently owned and operated by franchisees. This structure allows each franchise to maintain a local focus and tailor their operations and career programs to meet community needs and preferences while adhering to the broader Wendy's brand standards. Wendy's prides itself on a strong foundation of training, customer service, and innovative marketing efforts aimed at consistently delivering an excellent dining experience.
The General Manager role at Wendy's is a critical leadership position responsible for the overall success of the store. This full-time, exempt position typically requires a 40-hour workweek and offers comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, and participation in a 401k retirement plan. The General Manager is entrusted with executing the store's business plan to achieve established sales, profit, and quality standards. This involves hands-on oversight in staffing, training, operations, and customer satisfaction to ensure the business thrives in a competitive market.
This position demands a strong leader who can meet and exceed budgeted sales targets and manage controllable costs effectively. The General Manager is tasked with responding dynamically to market conditions and competitor activities by developing and executing localized marketing plans. They must also maintain tight control over operating budgets, regularly analyzing profit and loss statements and communicating key financial information with the district management team. Staffing responsibilities include hiring, training, and terminating management and crew to maintain team strength and operational readiness. Training is highly emphasized, with the General Manager leading efforts to maintain high standards of quality, service, and cleanliness, as well as promoting ongoing development and leadership within the team.
Operational duties cover a broad range of activities from maintaining store cleanliness and customer service excellence to managing inventory levels and controlling food and labor costs. The General Manager is expected to conduct formal and informal inspections and continuously use data and feedback to improve store performance. Further, they ensure compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and federal labor laws. This role requires a results-oriented individual capable of handling multiple priorities, fostering a positive work environment, and driving a culture of accountability and excellence.
Successful candidates will typically have a college degree or equivalent operational experience, at least one to two years of restaurant management experience, and the physical ability to perform demanding tasks such as standing for long periods, lifting heavy supplies, and inspecting all areas of the restaurant. A valid driver's license and willingness to travel between stores as needed are also required. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop a rewarding career in restaurant management with one of the most recognized names in the industry, supported by a dedicated team and comprehensive benefits.
