The General Manager (GM) position at Thorntons LLC is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of store operations to ensure that every Guest enjoys an outstanding shopping and dining experience. The GM is tasked with achieving performance targets, optimizing financial results through strategic management, and upholding the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role demands a hands-on leader who can cultivate a staffed, stable, and scheduled team environment by actively engaging in training, coaching, and recognizing Team Members' contributions.

By managing inventory, controlling expenses, developing team capabilities, and maintaining the quality and consistency of food and beverage offerings, the General Manager plays a vital role in enhancing both customer satisfaction and profitability. This role also involves collaborating closely with a range of key internal stakeholders, including regional management, human resources, and audit teams, to maintain alignment with corporate objectives and to ensure the store's ongoing success.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum three years single-unit management experience in retail or food and beverage
  • reliable transportation
  • ability to climb ladders, stand, push, pull, reach, bend, squat, climb, walk, and lift up to 55 lbs
  • ability to sit and drive occasionally
  • exposure to extreme weather conditions, gasoline fumes, and cleaning products
  • commitment to safety and cleanliness
  • ability to comply with meal and rest break requirements

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • minimum three years single-unit management in retail or food and beverage industries
  • experience with PeopleMatter, Workday, Reflexis, PDI, ESO is a plus
  • food safety and handling certifications preferred or ability to obtain
  • valid driver’s license preferred
  • strong leadership and communication skills
  • ability to analyze financial reports and develop corrective plans
  • skilled in coaching, team development, and conflict resolution
  • ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment
  • knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations
  • commitment to high standards of food safety and customer service

Job Duties

  • Drive a safety culture by ensuring a clean, organized, and safe environment for all Team Members and Guests
  • create a place of welcoming and belonging for Guests and Team Members
  • oversee daily execution of the Store Operating System through management of the Game Plans to deliver consistent Guest and brand experience
  • grow top line P&L performance and control key financial lines
  • track and manage inventory through count execution and submitting accurate orders
  • delegate tasks to subordinate Team Members and follow up to ensure completion
  • engage and lead company initiatives
  • oversee food production to ensure safety requirements are met, maintain par levels, and control waste
  • develop well trained Team Members through training processes and teaching core values
  • support and guide team members through career path while holding them accountable
  • recruit, interview, hire, and schedule Team Members ensuring adequate coverage
  • train and empower Team Members to de-escalate guest service issues
  • communicate with Team Members in a motivating and positive manner
  • comply with all inspections and maintain necessary records
  • promote sales and profits by partnering within the local community
  • maintain regular and predictable in-person attendance
  • perform additional duties as assigned
