Job Description
The hiring establishment is a well-established hotel operating within one of the prominent hotel brands, catering to domestic and international travelers with comprehensive hospitality services. The hotel prides itself on maintaining high standards in customer service, cleanliness, and overall guest satisfaction, operating four major areas of hotel operations: Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Food and Beverage. The company emphasizes ethical standards, employee development, and compliance with industry regulations. As a key part of the hospitality sector, the hotel contributes significantly to tourism and business travel, providing comfortable accommodation and exceptional services to its guests. The employment type for the General Manager position is full-time, reflecting a professional career role within the hotel industry.
The General Manager is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of all the primary hotel departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and Food and Beverage. This pivotal role ensures that the hotel operates within established budget guidelines as mandated by the ownership group and quality standards dictated by the hotel brand. The General Manager is instrumental in coordinating with the corporate recruitment team to maintain optimal staffing across departments to deliver exceptional guest services. Managing personnel with a focus on performance, financial controls, and budget adherence is a crucial aspect of this role. Furthermore, the General Manager handles escalated guest concerns that cannot be resolved by frontline Guest Service associates, ensuring guest satisfaction at the highest level.
The position requires a combination of operational expertise, leadership skills, and financial acumen to develop and execute strategic plans aligned with both short-term and long-term business objectives. The candidate must possess a clear understanding of government regulations relevant to the hotel industry, industry safety standards, and accounting processes such as receivables, payables, and payroll management. A key component of the role is fostering a positive work environment through continuous training, coaching, and mentoring of associates to build a cohesive and motivated team.
The General Manager must be physically capable of performing essential job functions, including lifting, standing for extended periods, and effective communication with staff and guests. This role demands the ability to multitask efficiently, maintain a guest service-centric approach, and operate effectively under stress. The candidate should demonstrate a 'can do' attitude, adaptability to frequent changes, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of hospitality service.
Overall, the General Manager plays a vital role in ensuring the hotel remains competitive in the hospitality market by exceeding budgeted sales and expense goals, maintaining property standards, and upholding company policies. This position offers opportunities for advancement into regional leadership roles, reflecting a path for career growth within the industry. The role is ideal for candidates with prior experience in hotel management, particularly those familiar with well-known hospitality brands like Hilton or Marriott, and those holding a bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
