The General Manager position at Abuelo's is a multifaceted leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations, from team staffing and training to food quality and customer satisfaction. This role demands a passionate, entrepreneurial individual who can translate the company’s values and standards into a thriving restaurant environment. The General Manager will coordinate all team efforts to achieve financial goals by ensuring consistent, high-quality food service following established recipes and operational standards. In addition, they will be responsible for building sales through engaging with hourly and management team members, conducting proactive table visits, and maintaining strong community relationships.

Administrative duties include management decision-making related to human resources, payroll, accounts payable, risk management, and marketing. The General Manager also plays a critical role in talent acquisition, recruitment, and retention, developing both management and hourly staff through comprehensive training and mentorship. Handling guest concerns promptly and sensitively is essential to creating extraordinary dining experiences. Furthermore, ensuring food quality through regular line checks and taste testing is a key responsibility. Collaborating closely with the management team, the General Manager will identify and nurture future leaders, motivating and supporting the team through regular communication and pre-shift meetings.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or 4-6 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Able to read and interpret financial and written information
  • Able to speak effectively
  • Able to solve practical problems and interpret instructions
  • Must be able to work an average of 50-55 hours per week
  • Ability to manage a large team while delegating tasks and ensuring consistent follow-up
  • Ability to handle difficult and challenging situations and conversations
  • Financial business acumen required
  • Ability to maintain a team environment by coaching, mentoring, and developing team members
  • Outgoing personality with expertise in developing relationships and leadership
  • Infectious positive attitude that inspires others
  • Must be able to stand and walk for eight to ten hours per shift
  • Must be able to reach, bend, balance, and transport objects up to 30 lbs repeatedly and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Regularly required to stand, use hands, talk, and hear
  • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • 4-6 years related experience and/or training

Job Duties

  • Coordinate all team member efforts to meet or exceed financial goals by focusing on guest satisfaction and food quality
  • Build restaurant sales through development of hourly and management team members, proactive table visits, and community involvement
  • Oversee all management decision-making and administrative tasks including human resources, payroll, accounts payable, risk management, and marketing
  • Provide focus on attracting, recruiting, and retaining employees, including developing and training management and hourly staff
  • Resolve guest issues quickly and sensitively to ensure extraordinary dining experiences
  • Ensure food quality through line checks and consistent food tasting/testing
  • Work closely with management to develop team members for leadership roles
  • Motivate and communicate with team members during regular pre-shift meetings
  • Identify and pursue potential local business opportunities to increase restaurant visibility
  • Perform all other duties necessary for successful restaurant operations
