Job Description
Cooper's Hawk is a renowned hospitality company that combines a full-service restaurant, a retail tasting room, and a thriving Wine Club community to create a unique and memorable dining and lifestyle experience. Established in 2005, Cooper's Hawk has successfully brought the Napa Valley experience to its guests through a modern, casual dining environment that features a scratch kitchen menu meticulously crafted to complement their award-winning wines. The company also extends its culinary excellence by offering Piccolo Buco by Cooper's Hawk, which brings the bold and vibrant flavors of Rome to its patrons. Cooper's Hawk is not just a restaurant; it's a lifestyle brand dedicated to providing top-notch guest experiences, cultivating a passionate Wine Club community, and delivering uncompromising hospitality.
The General Manager role at Cooper's Hawk is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing a high-volume, full-service restaurant operation. This operation includes various components such as a scratch kitchen, a retail tasting room, and an engaged Wine Club community. The General Manager will lead with passion and purpose, ensuring operational excellence and memorable guest experiences. This role demands a strong leader who can inspire and develop a team of managers and hourly team members, fostering an environment that exemplifies Cooper's Hawk's core values and behaviors.
As the operational leader, the General Manager will oversee all aspects of restaurant management, including kitchen, front-of-house, retail tasting room, and Wine Club activities. The position requires the use of modern management tools such as POS systems, scheduling software, inventory management, and Microsoft Office suite to maintain organizational efficiency. The General Manager will be accountable for achieving monthly sales, profit targets, and operational goals while promoting a culture of collaboration and communication across departments.
Beyond operational demands, the role focuses heavily on personal leadership qualities, coaching, and team development. The General Manager will serve as a role model and mentor, cultivating a positive, respectful, and professional work environment where team members can thrive. The position also emphasizes building strong relationships with guests, ensuring that every dining experience is personalized and warm, reflecting the brand's commitment to hospitality excellence.
A key responsibility of the General Manager includes championing the growth of the Wine Club community, ensuring that team members are equipped and motivated to promote this vibrant aspect of the business. The role encourages going beyond expectations to create memorable moments and celebrate individual and team achievements.
Compensation for this position ranges from $90,000 to $112,000 per year, with an additional 20% bonus potential based on various factors such as the candidate’s experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Cooper's Hawk provides an extensive benefits package that includes significant discounts, wellness programs, medical and dental coverage, 401(k) with company matching, paid parental leave, paid time off, and career development opportunities, among others.
This role requires a minimum of two years of General Manager experience in a full-service restaurant, with scratch kitchen experience preferred. Excellent communication skills, financial acumen, strong leadership ability, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and adherence to food safety certifications are essential. The candidate must also meet physical demands such as the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs. Flexible scheduling, including weekends and some holidays, is required.
Cooper's Hawk is an equal opportunity employer committed to fair employment practices and providing accommodations during the hiring process to ensure all applicants are considered without discrimination. Join Cooper's Hawk as a General Manager to lead a passionate team and be part of a thriving brand that delivers exceptional restaurant and winery experiences.
