Established as a lasting symbol of American drive-in culture, SONIC offers a blend of classic favorites and contemporary convenience with innovative offerings like the SONIC app for easy ordering and exclusive deals. The company prides itself on its commitment to quality, using 100% pure beef patties, hand-made onion rings, and real ice cream, served with genuine hospitality by their famous carhops. As a significant player in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) industry, SONIC strives every day to create great experiences for customers, whether they are stopping by for a refreshing Cherry Limeade or celebrating a team victory with a shake. With a focus not only on food but on delivering memorable customer interactions, SONIC Drive-In combines classic charm with modern service technology.
The role of General Manager at SONIC Drive-In is a leadership position essential to delivering the outstanding service and quality experience SONIC customers expect. As a General Manager, you will be at the helm of one of the company’s drive-in restaurants, leading every operational aspect to ensure smooth, efficient, and customer-focused service. This position is full-time with a competitive salary range between $52,000 and $75,000 annually, along with additional bonus pay opportunities. The General Manager role involves managing and supporting a team of crew members, carhops, and support staff, training and coaching them to meet operational standards and deliver excellent customer service.
You will be responsible for daily restaurant operations including opening and closing procedures, staffing schedules, inventory control and supply ordering following cost control guidelines, and maintaining all employment and payroll records. Monitoring compliance with company policies and health and sanitation regulations is vital to ensure the restaurant upholds SONIC’s standard of cleanliness and safety. Additionally, you will play a key role in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new team members and taking action on operational reports to address financial or sales trends requiring improvement.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills will be critical as you resolve customer concerns promptly and foster a positive, productive environment for your team. The position requires working a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shift times to meet the demands of the business. As part of the SONIC team, you will uphold appearance and hygiene standards to represent the brand image proudly. This is an excellent opportunity for those with previous restaurant management experience, particularly in the QSR sector, who are passionate about food service and team leadership.
