Job Description
Western States Lodging & Management is a prominent company specializing in the development, ownership, and management of hotels, senior living communities, multifamily housing, and conference centers across the western United States. Dedicated to operational excellence, the company fosters a culture of strong leadership and exceptional service, embodied in their Personal Touch Culture. They are known for their commitment to quality and providing an outstanding environment for both their guests and employees. This dedication has earned them a reputable standing in the hospitality industry, particularly in managing Marriott properties.
The role of General Manager at Western States Lodging & Management is a critical leadership position responsible for the pre-opening, opening, and ongoing operations of the new TownePlace Suites by Marriott in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of launching a new hotel that will set the standard for hospitality in the region. As the General Manager, you will oversee all facets of the hotel’s success, including operational efficiency, financial performance, guest satisfaction, and team development.
The General Manager is entrusted with maintaining Marriott brand standards and ensuring compliance with company policies. The role involves hands-on management of daily operations including staffing, scheduling, payroll, and labor management, alongside financial responsibilities such as budgeting, forecasting, and expense control. Ensuring the hotel's profitability requires implementing strategic initiatives in partnership with sales and revenue management teams to maximize occupancy and revenue streams.
Guest satisfaction is paramount. The General Manager must cultivate a welcoming environment and a culture of excellence, resolving concerns promptly to maintain high service standards. Leadership is also about fostering a positive team culture aligned with Western States Lodging & Management’s Personal Touch Culture, supporting employee growth and retention.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $95,000 per year, based on experience. The benefits package enhances the value of this role and includes three weeks of paid vacation, paid time off, medical and life insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, Marriott hotel discounts, and opportunities for career advancement.
If you have at least three years of experience as a Hotel General Manager with a solid record of managing financial performance, leading teams, and are familiar with Marriott brand standards, this is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact. You should also have strong organizational, communication, and decision-making skills, proficiency in hotel operating systems and Microsoft Office, and the flexibility to work weekends during the pre-opening and as needed thereafter.
This role is more than just managing a hotel; it is about being a leader in a respected company that values operational excellence and personalized guest experiences. By joining Western States Lodging & Management, you become part of a team committed to building successful properties and delivering superior hospitality services at one of Marriott’s newest locations.
